MOSCOW, March 19, /ITAR-TASS/. 60% of respondents would vote for President Vladimir Putin if elections were held on the nearest Sunday, according to a poll conducted by the Public Opinion Foundation on March 16.
Three thousand respondents in 204 towns in 64 Russian regions took part in the poll. The margin of error was 3.3 percent.
Analysts say that the results of the poll indicate that Putins electoral rating remains stable and exceeds that before the presidential elections in 2012. Putins rating increased by 7 percent in the last week and by 15 percent in the last month.
Political scientists and sociologists believe that Putins current electoral rating suggests that in a real election he would won the first round with a landslide vote of more than 80 percent.
Dmitry Abzalov, President of the Centre of Strategic Communications, told ITAR-TASS that the growth of Putins rating reflects the public understanding of the degree of responsibility assumed by the head of state when he was making the decision on Crimea.
The rating was also boosted by the success of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi.
As for Crimea, it is responsibility which, in the minds of people, the head of state assumes, Abzalov said, adding that the rating was also pushed up by foreign policy success which is perceived as the personal decision of the president and his personal responsibility.
The Sochi Olympics are also regarded by people as Putins personal project. The Olympic Games added some 7-8 percent [to the presidents rating]. Crimea game just as much and this was before March 19. Clearly, yesterdays statements and events [admission of Crimea and Sevastopol into Russia] would increase it further, Abzalov said.
Pavel Danilin, Director-General of the Centre for Political Analysis, also attributed the growth of Putins electoral rating to the success of the Olympic Games and the incorporation of Crimea into Russia.
He believes that Putins electoral rating may grow to 84 percent.
Obummer has only a 43% approval rating here.
What was that Osama Bin said about people naturally gravitating to The Strong Horse? There is some truth in that, even though strength is not always in indicator of wisdom, or even fairness.
What were the Chancellor's poll numbers like when he retook Alsace?
Pretty high, I'd bet.
A clear reflection in polls of one politician that supports the homosexual agenda and one who advocates Pro Family Values.
60% of Russians would vote for Putin if they were truly allowed to vote.
Ummm, from the polls I’ve seen, O’Crapper is down at 39%
Obama is a strong horse. That’s why every one lines up to show him respect.
Adolf Hitler was extremely popular too - why don’t you praise him as your “conservative” hero?
That’s because Russia is full of serfs, and Americans have had their fill of the clown in the White House.
Can’t help wondering if Putin wouldn’t pull more votes in the US than Obama...
Our adversary has a record of real accomplishments.
Can you name one that Obama has?
Is that 60% in Russia, or the US?
And compared to Crimea - Obamacare is so overrated.
Apparently, Godwin’s Law is still in force.
Since he won two years ago with 63% of the vote, his popularity is actually down.
I prefer Obama’s ineptitude to Putin’s out-of-this-world pure evil. If you consider driving the world towards nuclear Armageddon a worthy accomplishment - you probably should join your comrades in Russia.
I guess you want Jimmy Carter. The 70s are calling again for your foreign policy.
People gravitate to a strong leader who stands up for his country. That’s what Putin is doing.
Why don’t you get back to licking Obama’s boots?
I remember when this was a pro-western, pro-American, pro-conservative website. Now, the “it’s Obama’s fault” conservatives want to be quislings. Sad. But some are just superficial.
Ol NK Kim is 100% /s
Do you need a point-by-point comparison? Putin fits every definition of a fascist dictator. Just Wikipedia:
Fascist movements shared certain common features, including the veneration of the state, a devotion to a strong leader, and an emphasis on ultranationalism and militarism. Fascism views political violence, war, and imperialism as a means to achieve national rejuvenation and asserts that stronger nations have the right to expand their territory by displacing weaker nations.
Why don’t you just suck on something besides Putin’s little pu?
No, I want a strong and assertive USA to kick Putin’s little nazi ass. Along with his domestic admirers.
Let me know when 0zer0 hits 35%.
His approval will never equal H.W. Bush’s approval, before we voted him out of office.
Obviously, America is not the only country with low information voters.
Apparently a number of Freepers would vote for Putin, too.
Russia lost over 20 million people fighting Nazis.
If our illegal alien from Kenya were running today against Putin (just as legal as obama) I wonder how that would come out?
Yes, the single handed destruction of the world's foremost superpower to banana-republic status in five years.
I’m looking for someone like Putin. Who is feared.
Read your Machiavelli.
And if you STILL think all of the destruction that our AntiChrist in Chief has wrought is a matter of ineptitude, your voter registration card needs to be recalled.
You should understand that polling and voting under United Russia is a big joke.
No one believes it’s even mildly honest. The outcome is pre-determined.
That said, he’s undoubtedly popular for doing this. Have heard many Russians tell me “we’re gonna get the land back”.
The question is...going back how far?
Do they think the border ends in Budapest or Berlin?
Which would you rather have, thug Putin kicking sand in our face, or our president Owormtongue stabbing us in the back? Fortunately you don’t have to choose as you get to have both for only a modest fee (tax).
Heck, a good % of Americans would vote for Putin—if he was runnin’ in the US. Do we even have anyone like him out there? So old general or something? Who?
If Russia’s voting laws are as lacking as our own I might even vote for him.
That’s BS. If Putin is so popular in Russia then he wouldn’t have any need to screw with the vote. Face it: Russian are serfs who voted in their new master and want him to remake their evil empire. Russians are an inferior people and have always will be an inferior people who will never understand the true nature of freedom and personal responsibility.
Yeah, the same idiots who elected Obama.
So what? Stalin and Hitler were allies waiting to stab each other in the back, but Hitler struck first. Russia didn’t fight Hitler out of the goodness of their commie hearts.
