Would a teacher give the kids candy cigarettes? I don't think so. It's promoting habits associated with adult vices. The teacher should have known better. I believe it is cause for dismissal.

When I was a kid, I ate tons of candy cigarettes--they were among my favorite types of candy. While doing so, the thought of smoking real ones never crossed my mind, and I have never smoked a cigarette in my life.

I did so as well. We also had toy cigarettes with a painted red tip. You blew through the cigarette and a puff of dust would fly out the tip. My remarks were pointing out that a teacher has no business promoting a habit such as that, regardless of what a child does outside of school that may or may not lead to the child taking up the habit as an adult. I also don't believe that teachers should be in the habit of showing elementary children how to put on a condom. Let them teach the three R's, and leave adult affairs to the parents of these children.
