Fred Phelps’ Death Prompts Westboro Baptist Church To Protest His Funeral

TOPEKA, KS – On the same day that Fred Phelps’ body was found rotting in a chair in his upstairs office, members of the controversial Westboro Baptist Church announced that they would be picketing his upcoming funeral.

Phelps, born November 13, 1929, was the leader of the church — an organization that practices a strange, anti-homosexual version of Christianity that has been known to protest at celebrity and military funerals.

The pastor’s daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, was the first to discover the 83-year-old’s body.

“We haven’t brought dad out to very many protests for a few years now,” said Phelps-Roper. “In fact, it’s been quite a while since even we had seen him. Once he starts on a marathon of old Growing Pains episodes, we just leave him alone until he comes down.”

“He always loved Kirk Cameron,” she added.

I think Fred maybe too preoccupied to even worry about a protest!
Hell can be a busy place!

WTH is that supposed to mean? Every other Christian is PRO homo?

Fred Phelps was a liberal civil rights attorney in Kansas during the 60s and 70s and a lifelong Democrat.

Given how he was made the made the media face of opposition to the homosexual agenda, and his personal background, I can’t help but think that he was in the pay of the left all along.

Yep, that's what I've always thought.

Now that would be funny. A bunch of drag queens at this dirt bag’s funeral flipping him off would be must see TV.

He would have wanted it that. Now, nobody else should show up, because we want it that way.

Perfectly calibrated shot at Christians.

Doesn't work. We figured out their act years ago.

From the Administration Press story on Phelps:

“Despite his avowedly conservative views on social issues, and the early stirrings of the clout Christian evangelicals would enjoy within the Kansas Republican Party, Phelps ran as a Democrat during his brief dabble with politics. He finished a distant third in the 1990 gubernatorial primary, and later ran unsuccessfully for the U.S. Senate and Topeka mayor.”

Phelps ran as a Democrat three times for governor of Kansas and served as Al Gore’s Kansas campaign manager. Yet Administration Press uses the words “conservative”, “evangelicals” and “Republican” before getting around to disclosing Phelps’ true political leanings.

What a disgrace.

There is nothing here saying the article is not real. I guess the writer presumes ‘everybody knows’ what the Duffle website is all about.

I think it’s hilarious, some people on here don’t see it yet that it is satire

Duffel Blog is a somewhat vulgar site, but they just outdid themselves on this one :)
