A house overflowing with more than 100 people presumed to be in the U.S. illegally was uncovered just outside Houston on Wednesday, a police spokesman said.
The suspected stash house was found during a search for a 24-year-old woman and her two children, a 7-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy, that were reported missing by relatives late Tuesday after a man failed to meet them as planned at an undisclosed location on the city's north side, said John Cannon, a spokesman for the Houston Police Department. Many of the people in home that authorities said appeared to be part of a human smuggling operation were dressed only in undergarments and they were sitting in in filthy conditions and surrounded by trash bags full of old clothing, Cannon said.

A fair portion of them are effectively slavers. Involuntary prostitution of all kinds, almost free labor. But we put our resources into domestic political surveillance, the long lost war on drugs, and profiling terrorists like Christians, libertarians and constitutionalists.
This kind of trafficking goes on because people in authority -want- it to go on.
Why didn’t they try to escape? English is a second language in Houston.

On another thread last week I pointed out the gradual blurring between “illegal aliens” and “victims of human traficking”; while I’m sure there is some overlap, this is being done to get Americans to accept having ALL of these illegal aliens stay in the US. Trafficking involves coercion-promising a person who is usually young and uneducated, maybe from a remote village a green card and a job in los estados unidos. Also-in Mexico, at least-if someone wants a person out of the way for various reasons, but is squeamish about murder, or if they are involved in a blood feud with the family, they will pay a coyote to abduct and traffic that person, or a young person from the family. They might even demand ransom later from the family/parents of the abductee. Happens all the time.
And when the person is rescued, the remedy for being trafficked is to testify against the coyote in a court of law-you don’t get asylum here by getting trafficked, no matter how terrible that is-most people are grateful to go home because they were brought here by force and made to work for free to pay their own ransom-women and girls are often prostituted. Asylum is for people in danger of arrest in their home country-not someone who got abducted from another country.
Coming over here either by yourself or with the help of a coyote is different-first, it is by free will-Americans of Hispanic ancestry like me call those people mojados-wetbacks-we don’t like them, and it isn’t a nice term.
You aren’t promised any green card and you probably have no intention of getting one-you just intend to stay here, working cheap to undercut legal laborers, and snarfing up any benefits you can get. If you have a family, you probably send most of your pay back to them, in the form of money orders-you do not contribute to the economy here significantly at all and the liberals who say that you do are lying, period.
When someone turns you in to la migra-and they will-it is easy to prove that you are mojado, and you are no political dissident-so straight back you need to go, do not pass go, do not collect $200. Trust me-no one here is likely to be granting any asylum to any illegal, and once Obama is out of office, I don’t think any other state will, either...
I understand the difference between the two groups (trafficked people and “plain vanilla” illegals); I just think the media is trying to meld the two to remove the latter from headlines.
In my area illegals have been given a de facto amnesty; I suspect that is the case everywhere (as police are prevented from enforcing any immigration law).
The media can try all they want, and people who don’t know the difference need to be educated by those who do. Here we know the difference, since some underhanded ranchers less than 100 miles to the north have been busted with trafficked workers as recently as late 2012-but no such thing since.
It is a shame you don’t live near the border-if you did the sheriff could bundle the illegals up and have them taken to the border by immigration-la migra, from whence they came.
I live out in the country, the nearest city is SA, and their farthest city limits are 35-40 miles and two counties away. There are no “cities” in this county-the largest community has less then 1000 people.
There is no amnesty here, de facto or otherwise-if you are a mojado and you are caught, la migra puts you in the green van, and you get taken back where you belong. With so few people, unfamiliar ones are easy to spot.
This has been going on for years in Arizona.
