Guess it’s time to announce more military cuts. We are forging swords into EBT cards.

Never thought of it that way, but you be right.

Guess it’s time to announce more military cuts. We are forging swords into EBT cards.

After WW II, a French admiral named Pierre Auphan (IIRC) wrote a book about the French Navy and the war. He said that between the wars, the Socialists and Communists ganged up together to drive up social spending, in order to undermine the French military and naval forces. Worked like a charm -- only Hitler was the beneficiary.

France still had a serious naval establishment in 1939, but it was dysfunctional due to budget cuts, in a way familiar to people who've lived through the Carter, Clinton, and now the Obama administrations.

Amazing that USA Today would finally realize the foolishness of Dem foreign policy.

This how elections go when parasites out vote producers. The founders warned us about the danger of democracies.

Side guess: Look for Obama to leave the United States as soon as (if he does) he steps down from his unmerited and dishonored Presidency.

By the time he steps down (if he does) I wonder if we will still have a country left? I am not convinced one way or the other. I think you are right, however, if he leaves the White Hut, he will leave the country, and become an ex pat. I hope history judges him as harshly as it should.

You are the second person on this thread to suggest Obama will essentially flee the country when he leaves office. I’ve felt that for several years. It will be impossible for him to keep his past secret when he leaves office. I think when it comes out there will be howls to arrest and try him. The question is, which Muslim country will he flee to? My money is on Iran. But he may be shocked to find out they like him less there than we do here. He’d likely be arrested the moment he lands. They will not be grateful for all he’s done, even though he is directly responsible for turning them into a regional power by abandoning Iraq and stopping anybody else from bombing their nuclear program before it bore the poisoned fruit.

Well, I did not think of him becoming an ex pat much until now, but it makes sense. If he does, I am thinking of where he was, Indonesia. There are guys around who don’t like it when people become ex pats, but with him, I think they will approve.

Very interesting. I knew that France did pour money into the Maginot line, but they had to. the French public demanded they do so. France lost almost an entire generation of young men in WW I. But what you said is true about their naval forces, and the readiness (or lack thereof) of their Army and Air Force. They were woefully unprepared for the Nazis.

USA Today are such hypocrites. they have cheered on every military cut Obama has made and Congress allowed to happen. USA Today has been relentless in their propaganda campaign to screw over our military families and veterans. They publish editorial after editorial calling for military budget cuts and the slashing of pay and benefits for the military. Outrageous is not strong enough of a word to describe them.

If he becomes an expat, he loses his very healthy Presidential pension, healthcare (ironic that), lifetime Secret Service protection, massive stipend for office and staff that each ex-President receives, and also would lose some book deals and speaking fees that Moochelle is counting on to attach herself to like a bloated tic. If he faced criminal proceedings, it would be a no brainer. Plus, he already has taken foreign money and bribes his entire life (illegal campaign donations, college paid for, and God knows what else). So he might not care about the retirement benefits. Putin went from almost zero worth to $40 Billion in just 7 years, so I am sure Barry is jealous and wants his fortune handed to him.
