Obama: “More Opportunities with Iran” Student “Exchange Programs” with Iranian Universities

President Barack Obama says a nuclear agreement with Iran can open up “new possibilities and prosperity” for the Iranian people.Even as negotiations on the accord continued, the Obama administration issued an order Thursday allowing U.S. academic institutions to operate exchange programs with Iranian universities.

The announcement followed Obama’s comments in an annual videotaped message to Iranians marking the Persian new year, Nowruz. This year’s message coincides with nuclear negotiations between the U.S., Iran and five other world powers.

Obama says reaching a final nuclear agreement “will be difficult.” But he says he’s committed to diplomacy because he believes there is a basis for a “practical solution” to the nuclear dispute.

The president says Iran would retain access to “peaceful nuclear energy” under a final agreement. He says a deal would also mean more economic growth and jobs for Iranians.

During his campaign against McCain, I seem to remember the Obungler saying he would simply “talk” to them. At the time, I thought even he did not believe the bilge he was spewing, but I am convinced he really believes the BS he spreads.

He’s too intelligent to believe his bilge. A dirty rock in the gutter is too intelligent to believe it, too. He is “ transforming AmerikaSSR” — and as much of the rest of the world as he can— into the new islamoNazi caliphate. Lying to us infidels is part of the Muslim play book, as per the Koran’s instructions

How fun it would be to be an American at the U of Teheran. Good target practice at the demonstrations, etc.

I can say from firsthand experience that Iranians are in general extremely intelligent people. Underestimate one at your own risk. They can be an asset but given current circumstances need to be scrutinized as security risks.

Footage of the death of Nedā Āghā-Soltān[11] (Persian: نِدا آقا سُلطان‎ - Nedā Āġā Soltān; 23 January 1983 – 20 June 2009) drew international attention after she was shot dead during the 2009 Iranian election protests.[12] According to Human Rights Watch, "She was a philosophy student who was a bystander to the protests when she was shot in the chest on Kargar Street. At the time of the shooting, Agha-Soltan was not actively protesting, according to her relatives and eyewitnesses http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Neda_Agha-Soltan

Let me see if I’ve got this straight.

The 0bamao administration is imposing diplomatic and economic sanctions on Russia for securing the only warm water port they’ve ever had and that has also been historically under their control.

But he’s developing relations with a country that has promised, PROMISED, to nuke Israel AND the United States at their first opportunity.

The 0bamao administration and the Euroweenies gave stern finger wagging to the Russians because they won’t allow queers to “marry” or adopt children or recruit new queers.

But he’s developing relations with a country that hangs queers.

Make sense to you?

This jackass will paper over anything, in vain attempt, to make himself the bigger man.

What frickin nutcase is going to be an exchange student in Tehran?

What Persian is going to actually take this offer and not be concerned for the life of his family?

Looser...I spelled it correctly...

Obama is an idiot.

I wish that were true, Jim. I think he is a cunning and dangerous traitor, who has almost succeeded in "transforming Amerika". I see all the years of building America into the strongest nation in the world, and he has turned it into a haven for perverts and terrorists from all over the world. It will take many years to recover and I am not sure if there is a way to elect anyone to turn it around. I still support SarahPac and FreeRepublic from here...

The economy is swirling the bowl, and too many people are searching for a way to feed their families. Energy prices have skyrocketed, and cat food is a poor substitute for a hungry belly. The American dream is becoming a nightmare.

I am living in the Philippines now, and am enjoying the lifestyle. I am working on a project here in Davao City, with a retired General from the Philippine National Police, to build a retirement community for those who want to live in a warm place with warm people. It will include a fully staffed resort with medical assisted living facilities. It will be a bargain compared to Florida, and best of all, we will not suffer from OBAMACARE and OBAMA! I watch FoxNews daily, and turn off that jerk whenever he appears.

Mindinao has a bad reputation because of problems with Muslims in Zamboanga, but I am hundreds of miles away, in one of the safest cities in the world. I was living in West Virginia when a couple of Ethiopians told me that they and been invited to America and were given promises of benefits which my West Virginia friends would love to enjoy.

I am not alone... and soon will have lots of Americans joining me here! The water is warm, the cost of living is good, and the seafood is fantastic!

I remember what happened the last time we had a lot of Iranian students here in the 1970’s and 80’s (Iranian Students Association). Most were pro-Khomeini and some eventually led the attacks on the US Embassy.

No thanks. We have enough 5th Columnists here already.

Obama has a huge sign on his rear end, “Kick me”. Now that he’s been kicked 1,000 times by American Foes (and by now, friends as well), isn’t it time he removed that sign? I mean, he’s dragging us all down with him...

There were plenty of Iranian students in the US when the Shah was deposed. They marched on Washington, and they remained vocal in the US even while Americans were being held hostage in their country. Plenty of terrorists have been educated in the US. The idea that familiarity ‘prevents’ contempt has been proved not to work.

Agreed. Iranians are very intelligent and very cunning. I knew one who was studying to become an engineer years back and he was brilliant. He was a good guy too, but a former soldier who had fought in the Iran-Iraq War and was on the run from the Iranian intelligence service for dereliction of duty after a VIP he was supposed to be guarding was assassinated while he was taking a smoke break.

I thought we had these programs in effect for Iran and other enemy, or border-line enemy, nations for many years?? Universities are full of students from these countries. Many are sent to the school by Department of State, register, and then disappear, never appearing in class. Many are floating around the USA and State has no idea where they are. They, each and every, are a serious security risk to the USA.

I was at Laughlin AFB, TX when that happened. We had quite a few Iranian Air Force guys in pilot training at that time. When the Iranians took the hostages in 79, USAF took all of them out of pilot training. BTW, this was how I knew the Iranians would not be a factor in any future conflict. They could not fly airplanes, if their lives depended on it.
