R.I. state police take over House Speaker Fox’s office
Prov Journal ^ | 3/21/14 | Catherine Gregg

Posted on 03/21/2014 9:16:19 AM PDT by raccoonradio

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Federal and state law enforcement authorities took over House Speaker Gordon D. Fox’s State House office Friday morning, carrying storage boxes and a bag marked “evidence.”

Rhode Island state troopers took up positions outside the office just before 11 a.m. They were followed just before noon by other investigators, including some wearing IRS jackets.

The troopers would not answer questions about why they were there nor would they allow reporters into the office. They referred questions to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Jim Martin, spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, said the office, the FBI, the state police and the IRS are engaged in a law enforcement action which included the execution of a federal search warrant Friday morning at a location he would not disclose. Larry Berman, Fox’s spokesman, said he had no idea why the troopers were at Fox’s office.

Meanwhile, the door to Fox’s law office, at 32 Custom House Street, was locked. A piece of plywood had been nailed over a section of the door near the lock.

KEYWORDS: fox; rhodeisland; speaker
Just heard about this on WPRO 630 Prov RI. I'm sure you're wondering what party Fox belongs to:

WIKIPEDIA: Gordon D. Fox (born 1961) is an American politician from Providence, Rhode Island and the Speaker of the Rhode Island House of Representatives. A Democrat, he was first elected to the legislature in 1992 and was elected speaker on February 11, 2010.

However:
>> Liberals have described Fox as a political conservative, criticizing him for supporting a voter ID law, championing a bill to cut income taxes for high earners, and taking campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association.

Personally:
Fox came out publicly in 2004 and is in a long-term relationship with Marcus LaFond. He is one of four openly gay members of the Rhode Island General Assembly... He is the first openly gay house speaker in the United States

Gay I don’t care about.

If he’s conservative, now that I like.

Suspicious, not, that the “policia” choose to raid his office?

Try the Obamadork’s office...home of felony, sleeze, and corruption. Heck, you might even find Hillary’s time cards from her felonies years ago in there.

When the Feds (IRS) go after a Democrat, it’s one of two things.

It’s payback or he is so unbelievably corrupt that even they want to get rid of him. Hard to believe anyone is that corrupt based on the Dem’s history of defending drug users and women abusers to the bitter end.

wpri-TV:
>> He has also been criticized for his involvement in pushing through the 38 Studios deal.

Curt Schilling’s company. Wiki: “... the company moved to Rhode Island as part of securing a $75 million loan guarantee from that state’s quasi-public Economic Development Corporation, 38 Studios shut down a few months later. The failure of the controversial Rhode Island loan spurred investigations by the news media and the government.”

That picture in incredible. Just look at that vast crowd of enthusiastic metro-sexuals. Are there no African-Americans, "Hispanics" or Asians, etc., ad infinitum as enthusiastic in their support of "Gay Marriage" in Rhode Island?

Why does this look like a picture of the winning shuffleboard team on the Titanic?

True story according to my 83 yr old Mom.

Her Dad was one of the view registered Republicans in the State of RI that got angry enough to run against the incumbent Dems....When the next draft came about...he just happened to be the oldest draftee from Central Falls, RI by at least 15 yrs.

My Mom’s memory isn’t what it used to be and maybe there were other “older” draftees...but the message to her and her family was clear....don’t mess with the Democrats or you may end up on a foreign battlefield. My grandfather had previously served in the Armed Services so it wasn’t a big deal to him at the time....My Mom and her side of the family remain firmly convinced it was “payback” for challenging the status quo.

Now, has some backward Republican state or local office done the same thing ? Probably, because people are people regardless of the (D), (R) or (I) they happened to be affliated with...

My late father, who had not previously been audited by the IRS, wrote a polite and respectful letter of dissent to Slick Willie. He was audited the next 2 years running.

Liberals can’t persuade with their ideas, so they use intimidation. Whereas the GOPe always lead with the chin.

That’s because you don’t know RI, there’s no such of a thing as a Republican speaker of the house. Never was, never will be. That’s why I left. Couldn’t stand not having my vote count any longer.

I'm sure you're wondering what party Fox belongs to

I had no doubt about the party. The article didn't say Republican so he was a Democrat. I'm pretty sure that's how they teach students to do it in Journalism 101 and "journalists" remember that part of their education better than almost any other.

This was obviously a novice reporter though. An expert would have found a way to mention the Republican party somewhere in the first paragraph (that's a junior-level class topic)

It’s payback or he is so unbelievably corrupt that even they want to get rid of him.

I have a feeling it is a crime way beyond mere corruption. If had just been corruption, Fox would fight it legally or the Feds wouldn't even bother with him. Instead he just announces he is quitting. It must be something really bad.
