President Barack Obama is set to deliver remarks and receive an honor presented by Steven Spielberg at a USC Shoah Foundation event, the organization said Friday.
The event, the 20th Anniversary Ambassadors for Humanity Gala, will be held May 7 in Los Angeles. The president is also expected to attend at least one fundraiser for the Democratic party while he is in town, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.
"President Obama’s commitment to democracy and human rights has long been felt," said Spielberg in a statement announcing the news. "As a constitutional scholar and as president, his interest in expanding justice and opportunity for all is remarkably evident."

Since 2000, Spielberg has been a director or producer on 54 film and TV projects. They’ve all failed at the box office or in the ratings except these: Lincoln; Transformers; Super 8; Transformers; Men in Black II; Jurassic Park III; and Band of Brothers.
Admit you hated all these except Band of Brothers.
That’s it. That’s his best work since 2000. And he didn’t direct any of them except “Lincoln,” which was terrible and only a modest box office hit.
It’s Hollywood blasphemy to say it, but as a successful financial or creative director, he’s done.

You left out Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. All of which he directed and did well.

Spielberg graduated from Long Beach State, same as me. For all he is worth he contributes very little or nothing to the school, from what I can tell.
