If I had to guess, I’d say Putin will go for broke - he’ll never have a better opportunity. Who is going stop him? Seriously .... who will get in a shooting war with him other than the folks in the countries he’s going to gobble up?

Putin has the big stick and all the good cards in the deck. Europe needs Russia for oil and gas. He’s even got us over the barrel, so to speak .... evidently, we have had to rely on Russian assistance (using a base in their territory) with supply, etc., to Afghanistan after Pakistan got mad about the drones and cut us off. SO ... we need cooperation from Russia while we still have troops in Afghanistan.

I'm surprised the North Koreans haven't made their move.

I think they’re watching what is going on (or ‘not’ happening, is more like it) and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they do .... also, the Chinese want some islands the Japanese are claiming as their own & the situation has been heating up. Now would be a great time for them to grab the islands, for starters.

Obama has set in motion a domino effect around the world with his dithering and weakness. Oh, BTW, saw where Russia is working out bases in South America with some of the countries there.

The “Soviet Empire” operating under a democracy would be a very strong world power. Probably powerful enough to rule the world.

We’ve been watching obama destroy this nation since 2009. What he meant about being flexible was that he would be able to sit on his ass and not respond to Putin or China or North Korea or Iran or...... We are so weak right now that we don’t have the means to protect ourselves. Much less anyone else.

McCain said obama would not be bad for the country. I wish someone would remind him of his butt sucking statement.

Russian troops storm Ukrainian bases in Crimea.

Okay let me try to get this straight.

Russian troops enter Crimea.

An election is held to see if Crimea wants to remain independent or join Russia.

No option to remain a part of the Ukrainian nation is offered on the ballot.

The Crimeans, vote over 95% (wink wink) to join Russia.

Now it is reported, that Russians have invaded a Ukrainian airbase, inside Crimea.

Crimea is now a part of Russia. There can therefore be no Ukrainian air base. References to Crimea are essentially worthless. It’s Russia you dopes. Crimea exists in name only. It’s meaningless from here on out.

What to go Russians living in what used to be Crimea.

Enjoy...

WTF?

Is anyone even bothering to keep a score card these days?

What did that foolish Commander expect to ‘accomplish’ by telling his troops to “stand their ground”...when over 70 bases had already gone to Russia, as well as Crimea had already voted to go with Russia and basically a done deal.

Not only were his troops lives put in danger but wasn't this the same commander who confronted the Russians before and put on a display of his troops marching... until the Admiral of the Black Feet arrived and negotiated the situation?

Might be he wanted a war one way or another.

This Commander was told for weeks to surrender the base.....and given many options to his troops on how they wanted to depart the base....Telling his men to “stand their ground” was not one of them.

“. I do not think Putin is seeking a return to the insanity of communism , which the entire world including Russians has seen is an utter failure and does not work .”

It worked just fine for the Soviets. Problem was they ran out of money because Reagan bankrupted them, which by the way is how you defeat communism.

Well, Obama decimated our military and bankrupted America and we can no longer fight that war. Meanwhile the old Soviets got rich in the private sector, regrouped and can now reconstitute the Soviet empire. And there isn’t a damn thing we can do about it.

Instead of entering the war which Putin has begun in support of the puppet regime overthrown by the Ukrainians, the best outcome is Putin blown to bits on live TV.

Obama’s decisions to face down Putin with economic sanctions , and any other sanctions, simply moves Russia, China and Japan into a yet closer relationship...and puts the dollar at risk.

China overtook Germany this year as Russia's biggest buyer of oil....not to mention the agreement with Russia for 35 fighter Jets to China.

Russia's largest oil company CEO said... that if the US and Eu continued attempts to isolate Russia...they would move much faster with the Asian energy deals, military contracts and political Alliances.

So Obama’s already changing the political alliances and it's not favorable for the USA.....Obama fails to see the EU has more leverage with Putin then the US.....it's as if once again he's attempting to be the "Diplomatic Ring Leader" where he thinks he has more clout then he does....because EU clearly stated they would not go to war over Crimea nor Ukraine in Brussels..... They simply handed Obama the "Mike" so he could say it first.
