First lady Michelle Obama (L) and Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, pose for a photograph as they visit Forbidden City in Beijing.
It was the eagerly awaited meeting of the worlds two most important first ladies.
But there was a clear winner when Michelle Obama met her counterpart Peng Liyuan for the first time in Beijing.
As photographs and television footage began to emerge of Mrs Peng and Mrs Obama touring the Chinese capital, the countrys online forums were quick to claim victory in the battle of the First Ladies.
Our First Lady is so graceful and elegant, leaving Michelle far behind, said one critic. We have won this time, remarked another. Ours is more refined and eye-catching, said a third.
There was praise for Mrs Pengs belted trouser suit, with flashes of crimson at her neckline to match her red earrings and clutch, but some questioned whether her high heels were sensible enough for the cobbles of the Forbidden City. But without them, Mrs Obama would have towered over her.

Oh, she said ‘far’...
OK, I’ll try to be nice, just this once....
"Far" in chinese means "huge".
She looks like one of those cartoons where a man is wearing a suit and he gets blown up and you see the suit in shreds with the sleeves missing.
Pretty hard to make a Wookie “refined and eye catching”....
At least she wasn’t wearing some clown outfit she tends to wear thinking she is making a fashion statement...
That pant suit Moochie has on doesn’t even come close to fitting properly....I guess there wasn’t room for her stylist (unless her mama is getting paid as her “stylist”) on the plane after the dozens of her “friends” got on.
What percentage of the popular vote did her husband receive in China’s last presidential election?
“Now we’ve gone further — we’ve sent trash to China.”
Trailer trash, that is. Perhaps it was MEANT to be an insult to China. If so, the plan worked.
She got a big butt. She need to eat more Borrackly!
As Obama said when he visited China “ We can learn so much from China”.
It’s probably an attempt a propaganda...but it’s actually truthful and correct
How dare they say that about Michele’s behind. That is so rude!!
Whoever put the Mooch in that outfit should be fired .... hideous .... bad color, bad fit. You’d think she’d have enough common, much less ‘fashion’ sense to just say no to wearing it - they must not have let her get anywhere near a mirror before she left the hotel.
She’s wearing fat pants for a reason.
What in the hell is she wearing?
Don’t get full of yourselves, venerable comrades.
That is not much of a benchmark for comparison.
Next time we send Lady Gaga.
A pleasure trip including her entire family, complete with an army of aides, security, food and liquor, the most sumptuous and expensive accomodations in China, and no pesky press. All on the taxpayers’ dime.
Still wearing the boob belt.
Of course I in no way agree with the China way of communism, one baby, deaths in the square...but this picture isn't about that.
It's about arrogance and pride...and those are two very different things.
"Real" news is getting out when our own MSM is not there to shield it.
It’s the moo moo version for the butt.
Hands like a power forward.
I was disappointed to see that 70% of Asian voters voted for Obama.
So the Chinese version of Captain Obvious is writing their headlines now.
Everything is wrong with Michelle in this picture. Bad pose. Bad outfit. Unlady like. Just plain ugly.
Peng looks great.
It is a shame that our country is poorly represented on the world stage. We truely have fallen.
Given honest elections in both countries, Xi Jinping would have gotten a higher percentage of the vote than Obama did. :)
Don't be so proud. My 20-year-old niece can do that.
As bad as it looks it better that an a obscene mini skirt made of grand moms discarded yellow drapes with the bright red flowers she wanted to wear.
Even the Chinese first lady’s hairdo is more flattering to her appearance than the Mooch’s long tresses. After a certain age long hair brings out the vertical creases in one’ face and makes one look older.
The Chinese lady has a nice belt at the appropriate position on a slender waist, elegant attire.
The American beast has a high belt with no waist to be seen, securing tent-like pants, upper torso covered by a huge blanket vest. Moochelle needs to ditch the high belts that support her boobs, as belts are meant to go around one's waist. Beastly attire.
My work clothes look more stylish than moochelle’s outfit even when covered in mud and excrement...
I think it’s safe to say she wouldn’t have known better with a three-way mirror. The sasquatch simply has hideous taste.
“You can tell she feels humiliated by the elegance of China’s first lady.”
China’s “first lady”, a vain communist fascist of the People’s Liberation Army, is not elegant.
Bozo has a better wardrobe.
I have never seen a woman in real life wear a belt so high it is right under her breasts.
Something else must be going on here.
You could have said, "The US first lady, a vain communist fascist is not elegant." and been totally accurate.
OK - so the Chinese dictator’s wife is better-looking. The difference is that we picked our First Lady - theirs was imposed on them. And Xi Jinping’s wife can order people killed without consequence to her, whereas Michelle can’t. Any day of the week, I prefer ours to theirs - our is a First Lady, whereas theirs is a Queen in all but name.
One does not negate the other.
No one claimed Obama was elegant, but for some reason people here are claiming elegance to the psycho Chinese Communist “first lady”.
Wouldn’t that be an act of war?
Actually, perhaps you should reread the thread...most of the comments are regarding the trashiness of Moochie who certainly doesn't portray a fashion icon that is expected of wives of the US president.
Arguably, yes it would. We could offer them Rosie O’Donnel and a bye instead.
So could this baby pig
Got to hand it to the Chinese, they aren’t afraid to say the truth.
Perhaps you should read the statement I responded to:
“You can tell she feels humiliated by the elegance of Chinas first lady.
