WHAT? Renee Ellmers Claims She Has ‘Same Immigration Stance as Cruz, Paul, Lee’ (Loses Straw Poll)
PJ Media ^ | March 21, 2014 | David Steinberg

Last Saturday, Renee Ellmers (R-NC02) — a 2010 Tea Party favorite who has since lost the support of conservatives — gave a brief speech to the Moore County, North Carolina GOP Convention. During the speech, she claimed to hold the same views on immigration as Ted Cruz, Mike Lee, Rand Paul, and even Dr. Ben Carson.

This statement came a few days after Ellmers’ tendentious appearance with Laura Ingraham last week — an interview that might have progressed smoothly had Ellmers actually expressed the same views on immigration as those four.

Ellmers’ brief speech in Moore County offered no specification backing her claim, did not address how the statement was at odds with her recent appearance with Laura Ingraham, and was given seemingly without considering that someone would reach out to one of those four for comment.

Following Ellmers’ speech, the convention attendees proceeded to select her opponent Frank Roche two-to-one in the straw poll. A terrible showing, especially considering she is the two term incumbent, and this was a GOP convention, not a Tea Party gathering.

In some recent videos of her, Ellmers sounds like she has gone over the edge MENTAL.

Is there some hope to bounce her in the primary ? Her sole opponent, Frank Roche, has only $2,695 in the bank, while Ellmers has almost $600,000. We can’t beat incumbents with no bucks.

The duplicitous, lying snake of a sell-out that Renee Elmers has become needs to be voted out of office. She’s become a John Boehner puppet and needs to go!

I’d encourage anyone in a position to do so to support Frank Roche, her Tea Party opponent in the primary. He’ll stick with his Tea Party values and not lose his integrity as Renee Elmers clearly has in the corrupting pit that is Washington DC.

There is an OUTSTANDING possibility of defeating her in the primary. Frank Roche is rapidly gaining support and the despicable Renee Elmers is rapidly hemorrhaging support.

In regard to your last sentence-—we can’t beat incumbents or anyone else if we are filled with DEFEATISM. I’d encourage ALL FReepers to not allow anyone to inject you with the disease of Defeatism.

great job Laura. The argument from us should be we espouse a comprehensive guest worker program. And then ask the sen/conress/ah the question: why doesn’t our guest worker/ farm worker programs work. this is the heart of the issue not the talking points. Immigration law is fine. (except big business wants cheaper labor) I liked Laura saying that if you can’t operate a business in the us within present law then you should not be in business. Problem is there are so many regulations it make it hard on any business. The killer for the demorat talking point that our immagration law is unenforcable is “ senator - congressman: why did you pass the current law. And what makes you think that the next law will be enforcable. since most laws aren’t being enforced now.

And there is clearly more where that $600K came from; the Koch brothers are passing money out like crazy to the Amnesty RINO’s.

Ellmers sounds like she is in a midst of a mental meltdown. In recent videos she sounds like she has lost control of herself. I mean like looney toons mental. No joke.

“The system is broken’ “those living in the shadows” “when Hillary Clinton is president”
It was difficult to listen to this sell-out spewing the Republicrat party line:
`She offered her honor,
They honored her offer.
So, for two long years—
It was on her and off her.’

It has nothing to do with defeatism, it has to do with reality. Candidates need money, especially federal candidates, and lots of it. It’s hard enough to beat incumbents, even harder when you have no money. There have been instances where candidates badly outspent have won, but they tend to be rare. You need money to get out a message and signal to others you’re serious about winning. If Roche was closer to $150 or $300k, I’d regard him more of a serious candidate. With $2,695, it’s hard to consider him more than desultory opposition.

If you need an example, look at Katrina Pierson against Pete Sessions in TX-32. She was well regarded by the grassroots and Tea Partiers. She also had no money. She lost by a wide margin. We have the same problem with Lamar!’s opponent here in Tennessee for Senator. Very little money.

Oh, fine!!! Let Republicans destroy their own!

Now, is anybody watching as Aitken and Crisco vie for unseating her and getting that seat back into the Democrat column where it was with Bob Etheridge?

Anyone who believes that immigration capitulation should be taken up by the House deserves to be defeated. Bob

The seat as currently drawn is pretty much safe Republican, 57% Romney. No rat will win under normal conditions, especially some dipstick like Aiken, I doubt he’ll win their primary though.

But I agree with FMDJ, if Elmer’s primary challenger only has a few k he has very little chance of beating her. He can win a straw poll of hardcore activists who are probably fans of his radio show, but that doesn’t speak to his ability to reach the primary electorate at large.

Anyway, Elmers was a come out of nowhere self-proclaimed “tea party candidate”. If she’s indeed going off the reservation that speaks to the dangers of electing just anyone who happens to talk a good game. Words are cheap.

Well, you certainly have down pat the arguments used by defenders of incumbent RINOs and put out by the League of RINO Protectors.

As for me, I’ll stand and work with those who believe in Constitutional values and are not puppets of the GOPe eager to have waves upon waves of 10 Million Illegal Aliens. And believe me, the current Amnesty being surreptitiously pushed will be followed by others later—and Renee Ellmers will be feathering her personal nest.

Did I say I supported Ellmers ? Did I say I supported any liberal RINO or any pro-Amnesty fraud ? My point has nothing to do with Ellmers.

This is the one basic necessity that goes for ANY person running for Congress today: the main tool you need in order to win office is MONEY. If you don’t have it, you can virtually dismiss any candidate out of hand. It doesn’t matter if you don’t like that, it’s simply how it is.

If you think that’s some sort of “RINO talking point”, you’re being incredibly naïve.

Apparently I’m being called a RINO/shill for Ellmers for pointing out that having no money will keep you from winning.

I remember when the late FReeper Congressman Billybob declared his run for Congress against Heath Shuler. I told him he needed to raise between $500k to $1 million to mount a credible challenge. I’m sure he wasn’t happy about that.

There is no arguing with people who back the extreme longshots and pretend that they can win. It’s like they believe in magic, evidence doesn’t matter. “The grassroots” can do anything with nothing but moxie and a couple cups of coffee.

None of them seem to grasp that a candidate needs to have name recognition, which usually must be bought with advertisement.

One particular freeper often backs such candidates and when I say “few voters have ever heard of him” he disagrees, because the fellow activists he hangs out with have heard of them. That most primary voters are not activists is another thing they don’t grasp.
