Comcast Cable Miseries!
Meshuge Mikey | March 23 2014 | Vanity

Posted on 03/23/2014 7:13:24 AM PDT by MeshugeMikey

Yesterday... Comcast cable...my internet service provider...for the TIME BEING....had a Planned Outage,...in order to upgrade equipment that services this area.

No Prior Notice was given to paying customers,

During my call to :customer service" Yesterday...no mention was made of that fact that this WAS a planned outage.

This Morning I experienced another Outage.

Today's call to comcast customer service was Unbearably frustrating.

The representative told me...that this was a planned outage...and an unplanned outage. AGAIN no announcement was made PRIOR to the outage. They do have an EMAIL SERVER dont they? Would it have taken a tremendous effort and great expense to ALERT CUSTOMERS of these matters prior to the planned outages?

Im in Marin County California, and looking for a better Service Provider.

Thank you

Were I their customer, I would be asking the billing department how they are going to prorate my monthly charges. In fact, I would be INSISTING on a discounted bill for the time I did not get service.

If ever an industry needed deregulation, this is a prime one. No justification for the continued lack of competition. I despise Comcast, and my only other choice is ATT because it comes through the fiber optic phone line.

I dumped Comcrap in December of 2012. Couldn’t be happier.

Switch to Verizon Fios. I have had them for years and think they are the best company out there. I always hear my fellow colleagues complain about Comcast. I have gotten a few to change to Verizon Fios and the accolades I get is amazing.

The Customer Service crew have to be in India Or Pakistan...

They are reading form a script...have NO Idea of how anything works it doesnt or WHY...and are clearly not Dedicated to anything but getting their paycheck.. .

This last Customer Service...type...FIRST instructed me to reset the modem....before...alerting me to the fact that this OUTAGE was in effect in a wide area..as was yesterdays.

Id rather use DIALUP than put up with any more of these early morning outages. Drinking the mornings first half gallon,,.of coffee while TRYING to catch up with world events on FR is NOT FUN...when its interrupted by ..INCOMPETENT..non service..NON INFO. .

I shall do some hopefully local phone calls tomorrow to see what else is available here In Marin County.

What has your experience with Comcrap looked like thus far?

Oh I am so sorry. That is such a rip off. It is amazing how the good companies will on provide in certain areas. Can you move? lol. Seriously I hope that you can do something to get rid of Comcast and replace with something else.

Every ISP I’ve dealt with has planned and unplanned outages, unfortunately. Get a smart phone if you don’t already have one and set it up as a hotspot, then connect to that when your ISP is down. Pretty much all of the wireless companies require a data plan, so you might as well get some use out of it.

If you have a high speed internet connection check out a ROKU player. We’re getting ready to cut the cord from DTV...If it’s not one abomination after another...it’s green propaganda.

Brian Roberts, 55, inherited Comcast from his Daddy Ralph. He does not have a “board” to answer to as the company is privately held. Therefore, he is the largest “Individual” media controller in the US. Put simply, he has final say on what more people see or don’t see on US TV than any other breathing person on earth.

He also is one of Obama’s biggest supporters and donates big bucks to him.

What else do you need to know?!

Cox Cable does the same.

Whenever my internet connection gets glitchy or eratic, it is usually them doing something. Sometimes, it goes on for weeks before they ‘get it right’.

Last year, I also had trouble with the On-Demand part of the TV cable. Any time I would try to watch something, it would revert to a ‘sorry, that is not available at this time’ notice. They had been doing some upgrades earlier.

It is aggravating, but there is no alternative cable, and the wireless/satellite services are much higher priced for less service.

I get 200gb internet downloads per month, while wireless offers 5gb for the same cost.

I’ve got TWC. Think it’s bad now? Wait until that nightmare merger goes through. Talk about something that will ruin cable and Internet for all of us ... it’s that.

Oh my God, it cable. Not dialysis. Get over yourself.

For business, work related activity, this is life itself. Remote connectivity makes the difference between working from home and never leaving the office.

Comcast has an obligation to widely communicate such outages as much as any business would to allow for those who rely on such connectivity to make accommodations for the outages.

Customer Experience is a primary focus for any business that wants to retain and grow it's customer base.

The fact that there are very few free market alternatives is criminal, but that is another topic altogether.

He has every right to protest a denial of service under contract. He may even have legal recourse in some cases.
