Vatican Chief Justice: Obama’s Policies ‘Progressively More Hostile Toward Christian Civilization’
CNS News ^ | March 21, 2014 | Michael W. Chapman

President Barack Obama's policies “have become progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization,” Cardinal Raymond Burke, head of the highest court at the Vatican, said in a recent interview.

Cardinal Burke added that Obama wants to restrict religious freedom and force the individuals, outside of his or her place of worship,“to act against his rightly-formed conscience, even in the most serious of moral questions.”

… “It is true that the policies of the president of the United States of America have become progressively more hostile toward Christian civilization. He appears to be a totally secularized man who aggressively promotes anti-life and anti-family policies.”

“Now he [Obama] wants to restrict the exercise of the freedom of religion to freedom of worship; that is,he holds that one is free to act according to his conscience within the confines of his place of worship but that, once the person leaves the place of worship, the government can constrain him to act against his rightly-formed conscience, even in the most serious of moral questions,” said Cardinal Burke.

...“Sadly,one has the impression that a large part of the population is not fully aware of what is taking place,” said the cardinal. “In a democracy, such a lack of awareness is deadly. It leads to the loss of the freedom, which a democratic government exists to protect. It is my hope that more and more of my fellow citizens,as they realize what is happening, will insist on electing leaders who respect the truth of the moral law as it is respected in the founding principles of our nation.”

Good. If a high member of the Curia is saying this, that means their intelligence about what and who Obama actually is is much worse.

Best,

Chris

Wow.

Who would have guessed?

Pushing homosexuality, and going on the record that he sides with Muslims....

What was this person's first clue? /s

Too bad Cardinal Burke wasn’t elected pope last year. God bless him for not being afraid to speak the plain truth.

"Vatican Chief Justice: Obama’s Policies ‘Progressively More Hostile Toward Christian Civilization’" I await your verdict as to the validity of the Pope being Catholic, sir.

And here I thought I was the only one to notice the anti-Christian bias of the Current Regime now squatting in the White Hut.

Rhetorical question, I know. What could be more anti-Christian than the Anti-Christ?

Cardinal Burke understands and talks of freedom better than just about anyone in the American government. God bless him.

I’m a bit out of the loop on Catholic policy, is this the first time we’ve had a senior member of Catholicism make such a rebuke toward a non-Soviet leader?

Cardinal Raymond Burke

Isn't it supposed to be 'Raymond Cardinal Burke'. Not an expert on ecclesiastical syntax, though; could be wrong. But he's definitely right.

They knew it all along. This statement says "progressively more". Would make no sense to say that on day 1.

Agreed. They perhaps have given up on negotiating or working with him and have started to peel back the layers of diplomacy.

In America, anyway, the bishops themselves seem to have chosen “Cardinal Raymond Burke.”

I think it remains “Raymond Cardinal Burke” in the rest of the world.”

My friend... we’ve been saying how bad this guy was - and WOULD be - since he started campaigning.

A large number of Catholics voted for this clown as well. Too many, who should have known better. I was raised Catholic, and to my knowledge, nothing changed in the teachings.

It doesn’t take a rocket science to extrapolate that when this guy gets elected, believing what he believes, he WOULD be “progressively more hostile” with every passing day.

REALLY ?!

How about this from Jan. 21-CNN

“(CNN) — President Barack Obama will meet with Pope Francis for the first time on March 27 at the Vatican, the White House announced Tuesday.

Obama’s visit with the leader of the Roman Catholic Church will be part of a larger European trip that the President will take that month.

There is Evil in this world that does NOT sleep-

Remember Nancy (let’s abort ALL!) Pelosi- she got to meet
the pope too... made her heart even darker!

The Vatican is expressly preparing for that meeting by saying ‘We know who you are and what you stand for (and) the discussion is going to be frank and direct’.

The Pope is a Head of State, he routinely meets with other Heads of State, even evil ones. That is part of the job. No approval is implied.

I understand that where ‘Cardinal’ is placed in the name, either first, or in the middle, depends on how the name is being used in the context.

So that they are both correct, just depending on the particular context.

(That is all I remember of that, but it would be like if he was being addressed directly, for example. Or if his particular job was being referenced.)

I agree. The Cardinal nails the issue.

As I understand it, I can refuse to comply with the Government’s requirement that I use my company to oppose God’s command, but they will run me out of business with huge fines.

This law says that Christians of conscience are not allowed to do business in the USA.

Is he calling on the Church or the State?

Plus, very often Popes write or speak about "society" doing this or that, and they don't mean the State (as lots of people assume.) They mean "society," which is composed of a multitude of intermediary institutions, including churches, businesses, nonprofits, voluntary associations, private enterprises, etc. etc.
