A prominent Russian politician has proposed dividing Ukraine along the lines of an infamous Nazi-Soviet pact and suggested that regions in Western Ukraine hold referendums on breaking away from Kiev.

More and more Russian pols and pundits are making snide remarks about getting Alaska back.
I except Russia to take everything east of the Dnieper River.
What is with the Alaska comment?
Do not even mention Alaska, not even.
They won't understand until Spetsnaz Troops are knocking on their front door asking them politely but firmly to report to local Drive-in for counting. Or Else.
I spent 20 years plus in the US Army. I served in the 1970-1992. I spent 10 years in Germany. One of those tours was in an armored cavalry unit on the east-west German border pulling border patrol. We trained, trained, trained on keeping the Red horde from coming across the Fulda Gap. Now all that was wasted. The Soviets simply out waited us. Let us come home. Waited until the stupid United States elected an idiot punk community communist organizer as president. Now it has. Now the Soviets have no opposition from coming across the border. Soon, Comrade Putin will pull off shortly what the Reds wanted for 70 years.
Well, I hope the French put a lot of trees on the Champs Elysees so the Russians do not have to march in the sun.
Meanwhile, that remark about Alaska the libs make offends sends me over the top. Why, because I know that asshat in the whitehouse would do it.

And the saddest part of all this is... the majority of Americans have no clue or care about this issue whatsoever.
If people do not feel safe in Nazi controlled ukraine they should annex to Russia. Dittoes Alaska. Socialist USA.
I don’t. Its the Russians’ backyard and ain’t worth the blood of an American soldier.
They’re welcome to it. A year from now no one will care about Crimea - or eastern Ukraine or Transdniester.
Why not just give Western Ukraine back to Poland.
Those who so willingly give up the freedom of others, deserve to lose their own.
My son-in-law's family would agree with that. They lost a nice farm that they were kicked off.
As horrible of a crime as Katyn was, Volhynia was even worse....MUCH WORSE.
Galicia, Volhynia, and Eastern Ruthenia SHOULD secede from Ukraine and join the EU, and NATO if they wish.
Even today, when you are traveling in the Old Empire, you can recognize where you are. Krakau, Lemberg, Prag, no matter - you know where you are just by looking around.
L’viv (Lwow, Lemberg) was never Russian and never will be.
Stalin arbitrarily chopped off parts of Poland to make it more manageable.
Putin has a point when he said the Communists repeatedly redrew national boundaries without paying attention to the ethnic composition of the population or national interests involved.
Ukraine is an artificial state. I’ll be surprised if it lasts in its current form.

So is the Russian Far East. But Russia has nukes. You got a billion Chicoms sitting right there but Moscow rules. If Ukraine had nukes and a strong military they would be just fine right now.

The Germans would have given away western europe long ago had there not been American boots on the ground there. Before it was the pinkos. Now it is the corporatists. Doesn’t really matter who does it. The result is the same.
