Why not just give Western Ukraine back to Poland.

Yes, Ukrainians just loved being Polish citizens. A la Bogdan in 1640s and Stepan in 1940s

Why not just give Western Ukraine back to Poland.

Why not give Western "Poland" back to Germany?

Yeah, I suppose that could start a chain reaction, couldn’t it?

Russia as a Cold War style military force is also "done." NATO has not moved forces into the Baltics because nobody in NATO believes Putin is suicidal. If Putin invades a NATO country, it's World War III, and the fantasies of a glorious NeoSoviet® Empire will be kicked to the curb of history.

HAHA Russia couldn’t handle a little resistance in Afghanistan... Just wait to see what what the fight would be like in Alaska.

If Ukraine had nukes and a strong military they would be just fine right now.

"You not say Ukraine weak."

“...what the fight would be like...”

Yes, there would be too many magnum-equiped, all-purpose, all-weather, terrain-cognizant riflemen for the Siberians to handle.

As long as Palin calls Alaska home, liberals will be willing to GIVE Alaska back to Russia.

Russia is acting like Russia again. They have old claims over most of the Northwest.

Actualy the question is if NATO wants to start WWIV over Estonia.

WWIII was the Cold War. I used to think we won that one, but I am not sure anymore.

"What is with the Alaska comment? Do not even mention Alaska, not even. No."

If they even think of Alaska, either swap it for Brighton beach or deport ALL russians who arrived here after 1991.

and in Poland:

At least 7,000 reservists have been recalled to the colours for immediate exercises lasting between 10 and 30 days.

They're told by the Polish authorities that the call-ups are “routine”: but the men say they haven’t been asked before and they’re well aware of the growing alarm in Warsaw at President Putin’s aggression.

Zhirinovsky proposed Ukraine's Chernivtsi, Zakarpattia, Volyn, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk and Rovensky regions, together with Poland, Romania and Hungary hold referendums on whether the regions should break away from Ukraine.

This is sick! This is pathetic!

These lands belonged to Poland indeed, however Poland was a multi-ethnic country, not homogeneous as it is today. For hundreds of years, the Polish, Ukrainian and Ruthenian nations lived in the shared state but, over the several past decades, their own national identities have gradually evolved.

So, the natural consequence of the choice is a territorial dispute since they lived together on the same land. So, if neglected, this inevitably turns into a serious conflict and even a civil war.

For instance, the city of Lvov (Ukr. Lviv) was purely Polish, where more than 90% was the Polish ethnicity. However, some 80% of the surrounding villages were Ukrainian.

So, all in all, any Russian attempts (proposals) to change territorial integrity of Poland and Ukraine is nothing but a sick provocation.

Asked for a comment to the Russian proposal, the Polish foreign minister, Radek Sikorski, said (my thoughts exactly), "It gives me amusement. That's all."
