HARTFORD, Conn. Connecticut officials are urging owners of now-illegal assault weapons and large capacity ammunition magazines to relinquish them to the police or make them permanently inoperable. The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection announced Friday it had sent a letter to owners who had failed to register the items by a Jan. 1 deadline, part of last year's gun control law. Officials offered advice on what to do now with the weapons and magazines.

Look for them to hide them.
Tell them to pound sand. Obviously Connecticut is “the” test state to see how this “experiment” will pan out. Probably met the criteria as being the most likely state where it would succeed by the feds.

Does not compute...
What they are doing is illegal per the Constitutuion. I don’t care if they tridd to circumvent it uing. “state” law it’s still unconstitutional.

I think that these were the people that TRIED to register the guns... but *surprise* the applications were rejected. Now Connecticut is telling these people they "failed to register the weapons."
The people there need to resist and refuse to comply. This is a keystone event and a historic one. The people of Connecticut need to stand against this crap and they need to stand strong!
No Surrender! No Compromise!
Good luck! I heard there have been a lot of canoe accidents lately.
How long are they going to put up with this crap ?
Democrats routinely ignore laws that they don’t like.
They could just require the people without guns to be registered. Then by elimination, the rest are those nasty gun owners.

Civil disobedience over firearms spreads to New York

A looming crisis for Connecticut law enforcement officials the potential that they have 350,000 new felons in their state soon will expand to New York, where officials have set an April 15 deadline for owners to register weapons that have features the state says are characteristic of assault weapons.
The two states are among many re-defining ordinary guns that as many as hundreds of thousands of people own and demanding a registration that Second Amendment supporters view as a violation of the U.S. Constitution.
When the registration program was imposed in Connecticut, a massive number of weapon owners simply ignored the requirement, putting the state in a position of deciding whether the law will be enforced. If so, the problem is what to do with the 350,000 people now subject to felony charges.
In Connecticut, there was no grandfathering for people who already possess the weapons. Branford resident John Cinque challenged two of the members of the legislature, Sen. Leonard Fasano and Rep. Dave Yaccarino, both Republicans.
I tell everybody Im not complying, Cinque said. I cant you have to be willing to stand up and say no. And there are a lot of us who are going to say no.
An ABC affiliate reported the resistance now has spread to New York.
Barack Obama and especially Eric Holder have demonstrated we are no longer a nation under rule of law.
Ergo, laws no longer apply to citizens, no matter what they say or do.
Good luck with that.
It’s going to take massive Civil Disobedience. Who’s going to blink first?
My guess is that the state will do some heavily advertised SWAT raids on selected people. What occurs after that could lead us into Civil War or to the ouster of all the current Politicians and hopefully long jail sentences for them too.
I predict a boom in the storage locker business.
They can be searched at anytime without a warrant.
So can a safety deposit box.
Hopefully for the police caryying out the raids too.
CT citizens, please refuse to obey this anti 2A law. Remember in November to elect better people.
The "I lost my gun[s] in an accident" did not work with either the Ottomans or the Germans, nor will it work here. The Germans just took whoever had the "accident". The Ottomans , according to history so terrorized the Armenians that bought inoperative guns to turn when the authorities came knocking. For this [having a gun to turn in] they were quickly killed, not tortured to death.
So, you think they are going to start searching every storage locker in the city? And you really think they would have any problem getting a warrent to search a home? The late attempt at registration plus no turn in would establish probable cause in itself in front of any liberal judge.
And how many new prisons is the state building to hold non violent scoffaws?
The letter included raises a question in my mind...
Did Congress and Lincoln outlaw possession of firearm for citizens in the Southern (Confederate) States?
I want to know how they have addresses to send letters to.
Civil wars take on a life of their own and they cannot be managed or controlled. There are more criminals (as defined by these unconstitutional laws) than there are thug enforcers. Hunt the innocent citizens of your state at your own peril. We, your victims, will actively be hunting you and your families. There aren't enough thug enforcers to protect the guilty perpetrators of these illegal laws. You've become targets of retribution.
You've just put yourselves in the same position that Gen. Custer was at the Little Big Horn: “Where did all the Indians come from? Oh, crap!”
This is one HUGE gut check for Connecticut citizens!
We know the Redcoats have the nerve to attempt something rash, but do the citizens have the cojones to be equally — or vastly more — rash in response? That first shot is the hardest one to take.
The nation is watching.
The fascist bastards in CT and their fellow nazis nationwide aren't going to stop until they're stopped.
Store them out of state and the private property is no longer within the jurisdiction of Connecticut.
Just an idea. Should not be necessary.
Do not follow Unconstitutional laws.
History is on the side of gun owners......a common expression used by this putrid administration.
Should this succeed in CT the model will be used Nationwide over time. The results and aftermath of the 2008 and 2012 elections have signaled the politicians that the moral condition of the people show that the majority are ripe for slave hood. The few that resist will be dealt with violently and brutally as examples.
The fact that the state has a list of owners , of offensive items, should be enough.
But, they shouldn’t have said list anyway.

Malloy wouldn’t try to confiscate anything without having gotten assurance from the marxist in Washington that he will provide armed and legal support. (DHS and the ‘justice’ department)
Well, he did have the “bravery” to declare the freedom of slaves in all states then in rebellion against the U.S. government. Note that this did not include the slaves in Maryland or other border states.
sooner or later those that pass unconstitutional laws should be required to pay a significant penalty...and those that try and enforce them cannot hide behind “ I was just following orders”
Not to my knowledge. I've never head of such. My grandfather, father and I always have owned guns. And always will.
And if we are to judge what might happen by history, then the police and military will carry out their orders to confiscate, arrest, and in the case of resistance kill anyone who opposes them. When France fell to the Nazis, the French police were had no problems rounding up jews for the nazis.
The Heydrick solution will doubtless be applied to some of the people who voted for this, but the majority of CT citizens will probably approve of their evil gun owning neighbors being arrested or killed (or arrested and then killed)
We FReepers, especially the former gun owners, are the most inept group of boaters in the maritime history of the world.
And when stories of the CT gun owners being murdered by the police are posted on Free Republic, the cops can do no wrong club on Free Republic chanting and shouting with glee and joy, “They got what they deserved. No loss here. How brave the police are.”
Well I can’t think of a better time to die for a cause in this Rat infested nation. Its not the USA I grew up in. If they shoot and kill me it will just be a promotion.
Sadly quite true. Some people just love the taste of jackboot polish - even in the FR community.
