MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russia announced on Monday that it was barring 13 Canadian officials, lawmakers and public figures in retaliation for sanctions imposed by Canada over Russia's annexation of Crimea.

The Canadians prohibited from entering Russia include aides to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, members of parliament and the head of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, Paul Grod, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"This step was taken in response to unacceptable actions by the Canadian side which have done serious damage to bilateral relations," the ministry said, adding that Canada "chose to ignore the free expression of will of Crimean residents."

Our concern is whether Canada will follows the orders given by Washington after Maine secedes in either 2016 or 2018. While it is not a major concern, it is a concern since we are planning on using both US and Canadian currency as our primary monetary standards.

Oh, come on now! Leave the poor Canadians alone. They’re not hurting anyone! In fact, they don’t have to since we’ll defend them.

Guild by association. By that standard, maybe we should freeze some China assets here? They seem to be OK with Russia these days. Oh, wait until Michelle gets back; they might not let her leave! Don’t want that!

I’m sure they are all broken up by this news. NOT! Though comrade Dewar of the NDP may be crying at his commune that his fellow travelers won’t let him visit.

Blame Canada.

Is Putin doing this to make fun of Obama?

As in, you’re not even worth responding to directly?
