I was extremely impressed by Rand Paul’s ability to get standing ovations at both CPAC and UCBerkley crowd. No one else, either on left or right has been able to do that.
So the ability and skills to win in general are NOT the same for all candidates.
Does that mean Rand Paul is the best candidates for conservatives? Not necessarily. If Palin or Cruz can get elected president, without any doubt they will be the most effective president for conservative agenda. But that requires winning in general. With a loss, they will have no more power to change anything than Romney, McCain, Dole, Goldwater, et all.
I watched his Berkeley appearance and I was very impressed. He seems as intelligent as Newt, without the bombast. Paul thinks things through and has plans. While I may not agree with everything he proposes, I am willing to hear him out. He has reasons for his positions and believes what he says. I see all the distortions about his positions to downright lies. If you want to know where he stands on something, just ask him. Read what he has said (in context of course).
I have found no deal breakers as of yet. The more I hear, the more impressed I get.
