Russia is winning the Ukraine crisis. While Moscow may have suffered some economic sanctions, the world saw a disobedient Russian neighbor being forcibly brought to heel. The land grab was no doubt designed to encourage the othersEstonia, Latvia, Hungary, Georgia all those unfortunates who live nearby. And it will.
There are other winners, even on the side of the somewhat hapless angels. Like Germany, which is currently less an angel, and Poland, which is currently more. Before taking a mildly more aggressive position on sanctions Friday, Germany had been the least enthusiastic major European power about aggressively confronting Russia. Part of this is due to Germanys oil and gas imports, over a third of which comes from Russia and its other economic ties to the east. Its not all economics, though: while money plays a part, power plays a bigger one.

I think he is trying to say the Poles are “winners” because the world will finally take their fears about Russia seriously. that’s cold comfort.
I have speculated that the end-result of all this would be the creation of a new version of the “Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth” with the Visegrad Group States and Baltic States forming a new bloc, with perhaps even with Western Ukraine included.
Russia really does not care about little bourgeois deals of Poland.
Poland has had troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, in GROM, they have one of the best elite fighting units in the world.
Bring back the Jagiellonian Dynasty!
GROM are great troops. Luttrell goes into detail about them in his books.
The only problem is, there’s about 1,000 of them tops.
They’re winners because they aren’t Ukraine..........yet.
The only way Poland would become a regional power able to fend off Russia is if they built their own nukes.
I guarantee in the past two weeks, applications to join GROM have gone through the roof.
No one wins when tyranny prospers.
SF applications are always high, but I imagine the quota of those who make the grade will stay the same, unless Poland decides now would be a great time to expand the capabilities of the Polish Military.
