The number of food stamp recipients (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP) fell in Texas in 2013, dropping 4.6 percent from a year earlier to 3.9 million recipients in December 2013. Nationally, SNAP caseload declined by 2.1 percent from December 2012 to December 2013 as the job market gradually warmed up.
California’s SNAP caseload bucked the national trend, increasing 4.1 percent to 4.3 million recipients, the second-largest percentage increase in the nation behind Maryland. Eleven states saw an increase in their SNAP rolls, Maryland, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Nebraska and Rhode Island , while 40 states and D.C. registered a decline in those getting federal food assistance.
Proportionately, an adult in California is 17 times more likely to be on TANF than an adult in Texas.

I can see an enterprise in busing welfare bums from Texas to California for bigger benefits, and taxpayers from California to Texas on the return trip, but I don’t want to clean the buses after the trip to California.
Except for OK, every one of those is blue “gimme” states. No surprises here. Business as usual.

The genius Dubya and his mass immigration cronies told us that this brings us the wealth of diversity and that this impoverished non-English speaking horde is composed of natural Republicans. Obama the Alien agrees wholeheartedly.

California and Texas have the same exact percentage of Hispanics, and Texas is only 5% more, non-Hispanic white.
Poison the environment and the freeloaders will leave.
Personally, I would like to see states support their farmers by augmenting SNAP with farm surpluses. That is, if a particular segment of their farms had a bumper crop year, the state could purchase the surplus at cost, and allocate it to SNAP recipients.
It’s not just latinos in California who don’t speak English. The LA school district has to deal with maybe 100 languages. And take a look at a California ballot sometime.
In my experience the latinos of Texas are much more assimilated than what has happened in SoCal in recent decades.
That is why I gave the almost same percentage for non-Hispanic whites.
Texas and California also have about the same percentage of illegals, and my hometown of Houston is the most racially diverse metro area in America.
