Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton Talk Education ‘Globalization’ in Texas (Uniparty!)

IRVING, TEXAS--Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were in Dallas on Monday for the inaugural Globalization of Higher Education Conference.

Bush and Clinton spoke separately at the private event co-organized by Bush. According to the Associated Press (AP), the event offered a bipartisan twist for the nation's two dominant political families. Both spoke on education policy and the need to make higher education affordable and accessible across the globe. Both also were reported as chatting briefly off stage.

According to AP, Bush said in his speech, "Higher education in America has a growing affordability problem while billions in the developing world struggle with accessibility. Exporting U.S. post-secondary education and global consumers at scale can help really resolve both issues simultaneously." He also said, "Expanding access through technology can bring down the cost of delivery at home and abroad."

AP also reported that Clinton said, "When people around the world have access to this kind of American model of education it illustrates ... that we believe in spreading opportunity to more people, in more places, so that they too have the chance to live up to their own God-given potential." She added, "she's worried that we're closing the doors to higher education in our own country so this great model that we've had that has meant so much to so many is becoming further and further away from too many."

The AP reported that Clinton thanked Bush at start of her speech, citing his focus on education and his "passion and dedication to the issue in the private sector."

Uh...why? Don't all those people in all those countries already HAVE governments whose job it is to protect their interests?? Who died and left these two nitwits in charge?

The Bush folks and the Clintons are arm in arm. We need to send these two to to the trash heap.

Bush/Clinton Clinton/Bush

At least it would be honest, probably the last honest thing they’d do

This is the sort of stuff that makes me wonder about that old talk of the skull and bones society.

Leave it to two nimrods from a nation whose own eduction scores are abysmal, to figure out how to bring that same quality of education to the rest of the world.

I marvel at the level of ignorance of those who wish to lead our nation.

I’m sick of this type of so-called leadership.

The idea of some sort of world-wide educational focus is not only grossly over-reaching. It ignores every thing that human experience has ever taught any of us.

Education is inherently local & immediate. It involves the interaction of the individual student with a teacher or with another source. It can be self-directed, of course; but to the extent it is standardized by a bureaucracy, it is self-defeating. The essence of real education must be directed towards the unique personality of the student.

The fallacy, reflected here, in the arrogance of Mr. Bush & Mrs. Clinton, flows directly from the fantasy world of the egalitarian/collectivist; the compulsion to believe that all people have the same educational needs; the same educational potential.

Possibly so. But then, the way things are going, having a Phd. degree may soon correspond to a good Fourth Grade education in McGuffey's Day.

We’d be better served by picking 435 members to congress from the phone book.

Send the 100 senate members back to their states.

Make all house and senate staffers unpaid interns/volunteers.

Adopt a “Flat or Fair tax” (this would greatly reduce corporate lobbying)

Close the Dept. of Education.

Close the EPA.

Close the Dept. of Labor.

Close the Dept. of Commerce.

Close the DHS.

Close the Dept. of anything that is better served at the State level.

I would consider keeping the FDA and the energy Dept.

Transition from a Federally run welfare system to a state run system.

Cut Federal taxes via the “flat or fair tax” and allow states to tax accordingly.

Fundamentally, ALL rules should be dictated and enforced at a local level.
