During oral arguments in the U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday which focused on whether the contraceptive mandate in the Affordable Care Act violates the free exercise of religion, Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan suggested employers who have moral objections to birth control should not provide health care coverage for their employees

Chief Justice Roberts interjected that this was in opposition to what Hobby Lobby presented in its lawsuit. “I thought – I thought that part of the religious commitment of the owners was to provide health care for its employees,” Roberts said and Clements agreed. “Well, if they want to do that, they can just pay a greater salary and let the employees go in on the exchange,” Sotomayor said. The court seemed divided along ideological lines

Kagan is an obnoxious hippo. Sotomayor better be excommunicated if she votes with the libs on this. She won’t be of course, but she should be.

There have always been liberals on the Court but Kagan continues to plumb new depths of embarrassment with her obvious premise of government first, last and always. She is beyond artless in her questioning.

She’s as qualified to be on the Court as I am to run the Olympic 100m.

Shouldn't she have let Secretary Sebaceous say these words as part of some amicus curiae testimony?

How can you call it “free exercise” is you have to pay through the nose to exercise it?

Did it ever occur to these nimrods that they could just rule that the employees should just pay for their own contraceptives?

Hmm, i wonder if it would be better in the long run if Hobby Lobby loses. Better in the sense it would drive public outrage, and increase the chance of getting of of Obamacare.

Sotomayor, her family, her staff, and her staff’s family should be mandated to be on Obamacare.

All these things are available to everyone now. If you’re poor, you can go to Planned Parenthood. If you’re not poor, the cost for contraceptives is just not that costly.

I may be mistaken, but I thought Kagen was helping with the ACA before she became SCJ?

By that measure, as long as you have traveled, by foot, for more than 100m in your lifetime, your are supremely more qualified than she. The real question is, what is your race, sex, religion and sexual orientation? Apparently these are important too.

Didn’t our heroic GOP Senators vote to approve both Kagan and Sotomayor?

Roberts is a disgrace. You wonder if that fool has something to hide and the Left has the pictures.

The Supremes are not supposed give opins on policy but rather the validity of the law and the case in hand. I don’t care what they want HL to do. Is it constitutional or not?

The exchange stinks. No caring religious person would force that on his employees.
