American Crossroads reserves $1.1 million in North Carolina ads for April

Is American Crossroads giving North Carolina Senate candidate Thom Tillis one last push before the state's Republican primary?

The group has reserved $1.1 million in advertising in North Carolina for April, its political director, Carl Forti, confirmed Monday. The ads, the content of which Forti would not disclose, will air in the pricey Raleigh and Charlotte media markets.

That influx of spending will hit just before Tillis, the Republican frontrunner, faces off May 6 against a field including Greg Brannon, a physician who has been endorsed by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and Mark Harris, a Baptist pastor who has received support from former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

The victor will take on Sen. Kay Hagan, a Democrat, who is among the most vulnerable incumbents running in this election cycle.

American Crossroads has so far run television ads in a handful of Senate races, but its hefty buy in North Carolina will come at a pivotal time for the Republican Senate field in particular.

Tillis has reserved more than $500,000 in network television advertising for April and the first week of May, none of which will air in Raleigh or Charlotte. His campaign has also reserved more than $350,000 in cable television advertising during that span across all media markets, according to numbers provided by a spokesperson.

Although Tillis is the candidate favored by national Republicans, he has faced a competitive primary race, in which he has failed to consistently outperform Brannon and Harris in public polls. In a recent Public Policy Polling survey, Tillis and Brannon each polled at 14 percent.

I worried about the lawsuit Brannon lost. Can anyone shed some light on that?

He’s appealing that, and supposedly, the judge involved with the democrats somehow and is being investigated. His instructions to the jury were weird.

In any case, in Brannon’s interview with Glenn Beck, Brannon said there’s stuff that’s going to come out once it’s all over, whenever that is. I assume in a week or two. It’s now the end of March and the primary’s on May 6th. I’m Glad Tillis is being weakened. With the two top guys in a tie and 6 other people in the race, there’s definitely going to be a runoff.

The jury found that he defrauded investors. Brannon can appeal, but that will take months to resolve, not a “couple of weeks”, with no guarantee of success. If he has that information, why didn’t that come at the trial? The way it looks now, if Brannon wins Hagan just has to run one ad over and over again. Brannon looks like another Todd Akin or Christine O’Donnell to me.

If Brannon or Harris either one win the GOP Primary in NC, that will really scorch “Tokyo Rove’s” drawers.

FReepers might want to start considering Harris over Brannon. You are expressing the same sentiments I've been expressing on here for some time; most recently last night. Our FReeper family can make all the excuses for Brannon that they want, but, everyone who votes in NC is not as politically astute as all of us political junkies are. How the voters perceive Brannon is how they're going to vote. I've tried telling folks here for weeks: PERCEPTION IS REALITY. If Brannon wins the Primary, Hagan will destroy him in the General Election like Claire McCaskill destroyed Todd Akin and Castle destroyed O'Donnell.
Now, Parmenio, you and I must take cover and duck. Hell hath no fury like a pissed off FReeper.

Mark Harris and his wife are a very attractive couple. A lot of people in NC are working tirelessly for his campaign, quietly and very methodically, under the Radar. Do not be surprised if he wins the GOP Primary.

HOLD THE PRESSES! HOLD THE PRESSES! CORRECTION TO POST #7:
It wasn't Castle who beat O'Donnell; she defeated him in the Primary. It was that idiot Chris Coons that we are probably stuck with now for life.

I can understand what you are saying but people fear that Harris is a compassionate conservative.

“After service Pastor Mark Harris says he agrees with the Southern Baptist Convention and it’s time to talk about illegal immigration, “There needs to be a plan put in effect where we can get out of the situation we’re in.”

“Pastor Harris stresses restitution is not the same as amnesty.”

Im trying to find the other quote where Harris said he was just relaying the message of the SBC.

I wouldn’t mind if Heather Grant won. The polling may be wrong.

Maybe Palin could endorse.
