Top Dem pollster: 'Don't defend' Obamacare, call it 'flawed from the beginning'
WashingtonExaminer ^ | 25 Mar 2014 | PAUL BEDARD

One of the nation's leading Democratic pollsters and strategists is urging embattled House and Senate incumbents to abandon their defense of Obamacare and instead pledge to “fix it.”

Celinda Lake, whose firm Lake Research Partners provided the Democratic analysis of the new George Washington University Battleground Poll released Tuesday morning, summed up her advice to Democrats when it comes to Obamacare: “Don't defend it.”

Wow. That’s a big shift.

Anyone who voted for it will not benefit from this, though, because it will be pinned right back on them. For those who were not there, they might be able to shuck and jive with this issue enough to cloud the waters.

'Don't defend' Obamacare, call it 'flawed from the beginning'

...and be prepared for the follow-up question: If it was 'flawed from the beginning', why did you vote for it in a process filled with bribes, "shell bills" and an American populace melting down your phone lines to tell you we didn't want it?

ONLY the GOP can blow the opportunity this presents. Look for Republicans to join the “Fix It” movement. Too funny.

All it takes is a few Democrats to join the Republicans to vote to repeal it. I don't see even the most vulnerable of them lining up to do it so their "abandonment" of Obamacare is obviously crap.

Nero is not going to sign off on any repeal legislation. There is not a veto proof Majority either in the house or Senate even if the Rinos take control of the Senate this fall. It will take having all three branches in Republican Control and even then there will be the John McCain types that will play their hand to fug it up even more. (think Gang of eight) Count on it.

Remember what happened?
I believe his name was Scott Brown - broke the dems’ 60 vote supermajority in the Senate.

They couldn’t take the time to read it, or it wouldn’t have passed. Which was the People’s reason to elect Scott Brown in the first place - to stop it.

Call it what it really is....a scam. Just a kitty similar to Medicare.

I see the next step coming and the Dems will help.

THEN, they will add a new tax for all based on income....call it Mediscam. So we will have deductions for SS, Medicare and Mediscam.

This thing is so screwed up and it will only get worse.

There is a common theme in Obama’s policies,
and it’s not to raise up the “downtrodden”.

The goal common with all his policies
is to whack the crap out of the responsible, successful people.

That is terrible advice. We had to pass the bill to find out what was in the bill, and we have to celebrate it openly to find out how much people really love ObamaCare. Every democrat candidate needs to embrace ObamaCare, campaign on how they are proud of their ObamaCare votes and plan to embrace their greatest achievement with the enthusiasm it deserves.

Here in Florida Alex Sink ran on the ‘mend it - don’t end it’ crap about Obamacare. She lost. When you get right down to it, would YOU trust someone who supported that horror to mend it? Not me. Not most of us.

The people who love Obamacare are the same folks who would vote for a democrat under any circumstances. “Criminal? Oh sure, no problem”... “Liar? Well, no one’s perfect...” We all know the type - liberal true believers...

Reminds me of that old saying “the Emperor has no clothes”. All the Dem pols now are walking around naked! And, the only way they are going to find their clothes is to come COMPLETELY CLEAN. This means:

1. CONFESS Obamacare was fraudulently passed by ONLY democrats who NEVER read it
2. Call for its TOTAL REPEAL
3. Pledge to replace it with a law that is no more than 20 pages long and that is agreed to before it passed by doctors and patients and private insurance companies with NO involvement by government.

Absent a complete mea culpa on O care, the democrats will never find credibility with the non Marxist American people.

Don’t forget. The Dems’ goal is to replace ObamaCare with single payer. That’s the goal line for them. When they claim they want to fix it, ask them “with single payer?” and watch them backpedal.

This is isn’t about saving the president or congress in 2014. It’s about keeping the Democratic Party viable for 2016 and saving Hillary’s presidential bid.

I wholeheartedly disagree. This is a two-step process, with step one being the most important - 2014. If the Republicans capitalize on Obamacare and increase their numbers in the House (meaning in 2016 there would be no way to lose the House) and take over the Senate, the Republicans will control the dialogue over the remaining two lame duck years of Obama's presidency. That is HUGE! Bills in the House will be brought to the floor of the Senate.

Limiting what Obama can do in his last two years is also pivotal to precluding a Hillary presidency. They will have two years to put the dossier together on Lybia, Russia, Egypt, Syria and other failed foreign policy efforts - she owns them.

... CONFESS Obamacare was fraudulently passed by ONLY democrats who NEVER read it

Democrats were so proud of Obamacare they didn't need to 'read' it. Democrats have emotions and egos that are MUCH bigger than their rather small brains... which is why they use the term "feel" rather than "think". They FEEL... FEEL... FEEL.. and they're sooooo proud of it.

Same with global warming... Democrats who couldn't pass high school algebra FEEL what Al Gore says is true...

Your suggestions are goo Cen-Tejas, but if democrats were smart enough to take your advice they wouldn't have passed Obamacare (without reading it or thinking about it) in the first place. And if they DID take your advice it would be because someone told them it would help them win - not because they understood the ethics or thought behind it...

Vote the little totalitarian idiots out of office before they kill all of us.

Where are you getting "67" from? Obamacare isn't a constitutional amendment. It was passed by a simple majority in both houses, and a bill to repeal it needs a simple majority in both houses to pass as well.

So you don’t know the Constitution empowers a President to veto legislation which passed both houses of Congress, and that it takes a 2/3 majority to override the veto?

Article I., Section 7.

Yes, I’m aware a President has the power to veto a bill.

I’m also aware there is NO ‘Obamacare Repeal Bill’ on Obama’s desk, while there would be one there if only a handful of Dems voted with the Republicans for repeal. If Obama THEN stopped repeal, he’d have even MORE backlash.

All it takes is a simple majority to do that, but the “moderate” Dems continue to stand by this marxist legislation. If they claim it was “flawed from the beginning”, they should be urged to put up or shut up.
