Sarah Palin endorses Joni Ernst for U.S. Senate (Iowa - Harkin's open seat)
The Iowa Republican ^ | 03/26/14 | Kevin Hall

One day after her “Squeal” TV brought her national attention, Joni Ernst picks up the endorsement of Sarah Palin. The former Alaska governor, 2008 vice-presidential nominee and conservative firebrand calls Ernst a “champion for life, small government, and lower taxes.”

Here is what Palin had to say when announcing her support for Joni Ernst in Iowa’s U.S. Senate race:

“If Nebraska’s Deb Fischer can see through the bull in Washington, then Iowa’s Joni Ernst can help her cut through the pork. Growing up on a hog farm in Southwest Iowa, Joni has taken her “pork cutting” skills to the Iowa State Senate where she has been a champion for life, small government, and lower taxes – voting for the largest tax cut in Iowa history. In Washington, she has pledged to defund Obamacare, limit the size of government, and protect life. As a concealed weapon license holder, she will fight to defend our Second Amendment rights – the NRA has given her an “A” rating.

Joni is a veteran of the Iraq war and continues her service as a Lt. Colonel in the Iowa Army National Guard. She’s been a fighter for freedom both in and out of uniform. Iowa – come together and send this Midwest Mama Grizzly roaring to Washington on her Harley so she can join with the good guys to get our country back on track!

Any question about the type of Senator Joni will be? Check out her first ad – she makes it pretty clear:

http://youtu.be/p9Y24MFOfFU“

“I’m proud to stand with the Mama Grizzly against big spenders in Washington like Bruce Braley and Nancy Pelosi. Sarah Palin is an inspiration to those of us who want to protect life, defend the Second Amendment, and get Washington out of our wallets. As our campaign builds energy toward a primary win in June, Sarah Palin’s roaring support will help me to victory, and as a result, make ‘em squeal in Washington,” said Ernst.

I have met Joni personally, she's from very conservative SW Iowa, where she is currently a State Senator who took over now Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds seat when she was picked by Gov. Branstad for the position.

Joni is a farmer, a soldier for many years in the Iowa National Guard, and has served in the Iraq theater, in addition to being a state senator. She has been as far as I know an unapologetic conservative on the campaign trail. Her website is:

Getting that leftist loudmouthed moron out of the Senate is the most important thing. Even a RINO would be a great improvement, and replacing him with a conservative would be a Senate game-changer.

Here is from her issues page:

Protecting Innocent Life

Joni believes life begins at conception, that all innocent life is precious, and that we must cherish and protect the unborn. Joni opposes any taxpayer funding of abortion and has a record as a strong, proven defender of innocent life during her tenure in the state legislature.

Restoring Fiscal Responsibility

Washington has a spending addiction and Joni is committed to breaking it. It’s simple: Government must stop spending more money than it takes in. That’s why Joni supports a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution to force Washington to stop the reckless spending and live within its means.

Protecting Second Amendment Rights

Joni is a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and opposes efforts by the government to infringe upon this fundamental right. She is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and received an “A” rating from the NRA for her efforts to protect the rights of gun owners as a member of the state senate. Joni holds a concealed carry permit, carries a Smith and Wesson 9mm, and is Army qualified on the 9mm and M16.

Protecting the Constitution

Joni believes that “we the people” must remain committed to restoring the limited government, Constitutional principles outlined by our Founding Fathers at the birth of our nation. This means respecting the important balance between government responsibility, and individual liberty, that make our democracy the greatest nation mankind has ever known.

Protecting Traditional Marriage

As a Christian, Joni strongly believes marriage is a religious institution, defined as a union between one man and one woman. She has already shown herself to be a defender of traditional marriage on the floor of the Iowa Senate.

Priority One: Creating Jobs

Joni believes the free market is the greatest job creating machine ever built, but only when the government gets out of the way. She supports rolling back burdensome regulations that are crushing small business owners. Joni supports pro-growth tax and economic policies that will unleash the full potential of America’s free market economy and create millions of new jobs.

Repeal and Replace Obamacare

Joni is staunchly opposed to the Obamacare law. Joni supports immediate action to defund Obamacare, repeal it, and replace it with free-market alternatives that put patients first, and healthcare decisions back in the hands of doctors rather than bureaucrats.

Scrap the Tax Code

The IRS is a disaster. The greatest nation on earth should not have one of the most predatory, bureaucratic, out of control tax agencies on the planet. Our system is backwards. Joni believes real, fundamental tax reform will require more than tweaks to the tax code. It’s time to scrap it and start over, to make our tax system fairer, flatter, simpler and more certain.

Keeping America Strong in the World

Joni believes in a strong national defense because she knows the world is a safer place when America is the strongest nation on the planet. She believes that military readiness cannot be allowed to fall victim to Washington politics or bureaucratic maneuvering. Joni also believes that American foreign policy must be consistent and strong – never giving our enemies hesitation as to America’s resolve to defend herself and her interests across the globe, whether by diplomatic means or use of force.

Honoring America’s Heroes: Our Veterans

As a Lt. Colonel and battalion commander in the Iowa Army National Guard, Joni knows first-hand the incredible service, and sacrifices, our men and women in uniform have given, and continue to provide, our great nation. In the senate, she will fight as hard for them, and their families, as they have fought for us. That means caring for wounded warriors, streamlining the VA benefit system, improving veteran education and job training programs, and accounting for all military personnel, from every avenue, to ensure no soldier, sailor, airmen, marine or coastguardsmen is ever left behind.

Protecting Social Security and Medicare

Joni believes strongly that Social Security and Medicare must be preserved and protected for our seniors of today and tomorrow. She opposes any efforts to change the promised benefits for today’s seniors. At the same time she supports reforms that will strengthen both Social Security and Medicare to ensure the long-term health of both programs for generations to come.

Growing Iowa’s Economy

Joni will fight to continue to help Iowa’s economy grow – meaning an influx of even more businesses to the state and a resulting increase in jobs. She believes that by ensuring markets remain open to exports for Iowa goods and promoting innovation that makes Iowa more competitive in today’s global marketplace, Iowa will continue its current upward economic and job growth trajectory.

The U.S. – Israeli Partnership

Since recognizing Israel’s official founding on May 14, 1948, the bond between the United States and the Jewish State has steadily grown stronger through many historic and turbulent moments, to include the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Six-Day War, and Gulf War to presently underway efforts to downgrade, and ultimately eliminate, the offensive capabilities of terrorist groups such as Al Qaeda and Hezbollah and to eliminate the regional threat posed by a potentially nuclear Iran. As history has proven time and time again, America has no better friend or more loyal ally than she does with Israel.

Chris Matthews played the ad yesterday, so at least 6 or 8 people saw it for free.

Whitaker is good too, as is Schaben, but Schaben has gotten no traction so far. The one I’m not crazy about is Jacobs.

Too many of our female pols are liberal softies at heart. For those who are truly conservative, they need to break through the stereotype by taking it on directly (e.g., ‘Mama Grizzlies’).

I think this commercial, which might not fly as well on the West and East Coasts, did that perfectly and is well suited for Iowa.

Harkin is retiring, the handpicked guy is Bruce Braley, the guy that insulted Chuck Grassley about being a farmer and not a lawyer.

Bruce is actually MORE liberal than Harkin. I know that doesn’t seem possible, but he is. Not a mention a dirtbag elitist trial lawyer.

I don’t expect Sarah to reply to every piece of news. No one can do that nowadays, but has Sarah said anything about the aborted fetuses used to as bio-fuel to heat English Hospitals and possibly Amercian ones as well? Maybe she or Michelle Bachmann will get to it later. I DO expect Bill O’Reily, Greta or John Krauthammer to bring it up. People pay attention to what they say. I haven’t been around a TV set the last few days.

Ernst’ record as an early backer of Mitt Romney in 2007 and 2011 does not indicate conservatism.

Works well with this East Coast South Carolinian! (With just a slight wince.)
