http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Vendome_fire

The Hotel Vendome fire was the worst firefighting tragedy in Boston history. Nine firefighters were killed when part of the building collapsed, June 17, 1972. Not sure but they have called at least one, possibly two additional engines since going to 9 alarms.

I found a reference to that as well on the police Twitter feed. I never cease to be amazed at how much Twitter sucks though.

OTOH, that said, Boston FD feed:

https://twitter.com/BostonFire?original_referer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.boston.com%2Fnews%2Flocal%2Fmassachusetts%2F2014%2F03%2F26%2Ffirefighters-battling-alarm-fire-back-bay%2FHxw6tT2c9OJWNd0HRV6UrI%2Fstory.html&tw_i=448919753680494592&tw_p=tweetembed

Response at 2:43 pm to 298 Beacon St in the Back Bay. It is a 4 story brick brownstone. Fire in basement extended up

Meth Lab?

Not likely. this part of town is occupied by upper middle class and Emerson College students. Typical potheads.
