Michigan won't recognize same-sex marriages

LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Michigan won't recognize more than 300 same-sex marriages performed last weekend before a court halted a decision that opened the door to gay nuptials, Gov. Rick Snyder said Wednesday.

The announcement came a day after an appeals court indefinitely stopped any additional same-sex marriages. It will likely take months for the court to make its own judgment about whether a Michigan constitutional amendment that says marriage only is between a man and a woman violates the U.S. Constitution.

U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman struck down the gay marriage ban Friday.

Four counties took the extraordinary step of granting licenses Saturday before the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a temporary halt. The stay was extended indefinitely on Tuesday.

Yep and who ever would have dreamed that World Vision would be on the wrong side of the issues

Just wish one of these Governors would simply say -

"Until this matter is resolved by the U.S. Supreme Court, any judicial ruling that invalidate our state constitutional amendment affirming traditional marriage is itself invalid and will not be enforced."

I'd like to know what we can do to punish these county clerks.

Let me be the first to say, “GOOD!”

Let me the first to second the motion!

Why do the people get disenfranchised, and judges make all the decisions that affect society?

This is judicial tyranny.

Cut state funds to those counties until the County Clerks resigned or strung up.

I don't know if we can, but we can to the best of our ability avoid patronizing companies that push the leftist agenda. That's an action that we can all take now, without having to wait for anyone or anything. The question is, will we?

Don’t be so quick to congratulate Michigan. Snyder’s statement merely acknowledges the ruling of a federal court. If the ruling is overturned through the appeal process, he will go along without so much as a gripe.

Sounds like my RINO governor.

I just wish that the governor of Massachusetts had said ‘all marriages are deemed invalid by the state supreme court’ and called their bluff. But then again, Romney always was weak.

Ingham county Clerk office hours.

Hours of Operation: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday thru Friday

This Clerk and 3 others violated the law by opening their offices without authorization and only serving a specific political agenda. No hetero marriage licenses were given on that day, no birth or death certificates were issued on that day, no deeds were transferred on that day.

Snyder has about as much power on this issue as I do. Michigan is a weak governor state.

Make those who were issued the Marriage Licenses” aware of who they are?

That WOULD be cruel wouldn’t it!

I gotcha. That's a bit different than here in PA. We just have a weak governor.
