Virginia, considered a swing state, is swinging blue for U.S. Sen. Mark Warner in his reelection drive this year and for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton if she runs for the White House in 2016, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Sen. Warner tops former White House aide Ed Gillespie, a possible Republican challenger, 46 - 31 percent, with 6 percent for Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University poll finds.

Virginia voters say 49 - 36 percent that Warner deserves reelection. They approve 55 - 33 percent of the job he is doing and have a 49 - 30 percent favorable opinion of him. For the other candidates, 64 percent don't know enough about Gillespie to form an opinion and 80 percent don't know enough about Sarvis.

Secretary Clinton squeaks by New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie 45 - 41 percent and tops other possible Republican contenders in the 2016 presidential race: 47 - 39 percent over former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush; 48 - 42 percent over U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky; 49 - 41 over former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

I agree - between the fools who vote Libertarian and the fraud the fraudsters know won’t be punished....they got it down pat.

Maybe the GOP should get a communist party USA candidate to siphon off rat votes.

I do not understand why some of the big money does not go towards creating a viable Green Party to serve as Democratic spoiler.

That’s what my niece says. She lives in Vienna and told me that VA outside of the DC metro area is one of the most conservative states in the union. Maybe it is time to carve out a DC district from VA and MD that includes the suburban areas and make it a state. Then the rest of the state could go back to being Red.

Richmond/Norfolk/Roanoke are guaranteed for a Democrat with cash to give out. The big question is “How much will it cost?”. Price goes up every election.
NOVA is a lock so long as the federal government grows.

We really have to shrink Federal Government, if (WHEN) we do this, Virginia will swing back red again!

Whatever prompted you to go to CA? There are perfectly good (still) conservative states that nice weather, like where I live in North Carolina!

My hope is turnout will increase after watching rat McCauliffe take the governorship by only a few points. If y’all seriously GOTV, you should be able to take this seat.

I hope and pray you’re right, txhurl. But the increasing population of liberal Northeasterners and the blacks in Hampton Roads & Richmond are doing the same.
