I don’t imagine I will get involved in anymore discussions about autism on FR.
Don’t let some cynical comments and/or humor discourage you from FR. Their are other parents of autistic children that you might be able to help here.
I know where the poster of comment 4 is coming from. He’s relating it to the ADHD problem where there was an epidemic of ADHD diagnosed and Ritalin was being prescribed like crazy and come to find out there was an incentive for the schools to have the kids diagnosed with problems.
It was a leap in logic based in ignorance. But you just need to expect some of that on FR and not let it bother you.
I wouldn’t let a few IDIOT FREEPERS discourage you from that.
I’ve already seen, over the years, that certain Freepers can be as big an IDIOT as some Leftists - so it’s clear that the disease of idiocy affects the left and the right ... :-) ...
That’s a good plan. People here are impossibly ignorant/stupid when it comes to Autism/ADHS/Nut Allergies etc. It’s just best to stay away.

Many degrees of autism and some autism IS NOT autism....
mental retardation has many forms....
One form is children spoiled by their parents...
Effects many children for life... (they grow up spoiled)..
And then you have the poor souls that actually MARRY spoiled children WHO GREW UP..
Which can effect those poor souls for decades... if not a lifetime..
But then autism is not always a problem of SPOILING the kid..
Sometimes it’s legit... they are autistic AND SPOILED...
You know............... two(2) problems...
