Over 1,500 nationalists from the Right Sector have circled Ukrainian parliament in Kiev threatening to storm it on Thursday. They demanded the resignation of the interior minister after their leader Muzychko was killed in a police operation.
Up to 2,000 members of the Right Sector, which recently was revamped into a political party, flooded the square in front of Verkhovna Rada in the Ukrainian capital on Thursday night. The radicals, who brought car tires to burn with them, were banging on the Parliaments doors, smashing the glass parts in them.
Wearing masks and brandishing bats, they were shouting "Avakov, get out!"
The parliament building was empty except for guards, some administrative staff and reporters. All the MPs had earlier left the building through an underground tunnel, RIA Novosti reported.
The protesters were threatening to break into the parliament if their demands were not met, journalists reported from the scene. The Radas security in the meantime concentrated in front of the entrance to the building and prepared water cannons, urging the journalists inside not to approach the windows looking onto Constitution Square.
Several hours into the standoff activists announced the rally was over for tonight as they decided not to storm the building just yet, but reconvene tomorrow.

They want Interior Minister Avakov removed for killing the Internationally-wanted Aleksandr Muzychko, also known as Sashko Bilyi.
I guess their protests against the government tomorrow could be more helpful to possible Russian troop movements going into the weekend.
Who are the leaders of this Ukrainian “revolution”?
In Poland, we knew who they were: Walesa and the other members of Solidarity....In Czechoslovakia, they had Havel.
It takes a central figure who can unite the people to make for a successful revolution, all I see in Ukraine is chaos. And it doesn’t take Russian propaganda to see that.
I thought the pro-Bandera’s here on FR told us that the “violent Right Sector” was just a creation of Russian Propaganda?
Cool, maybe we'll get another new Ukrainian coup government by democratic riot.
Those Responsible for Sacking the People Who Have Just Been Sacked, Have Been Sacked.
“guess their protests against the government tomorrow could be more helpful to possible Russian troop movements going into the weekend.”
Ukraine is fast slipping in to anarchy.
Yeah, quoting RT should be a good way to to debunk the anti-Putinistas, comrade.
I see it more that both sides have issues....where are the “good” Ukrainian leaders, where is their Walesa or Havel?
Anarchy? Send in the Russian army. Man, you’re sick. You’d have been a great Goebbels.
this is why I don’t think Ukraine, or its people, has a hope. They are statist orphans who fell off the dying Soviet Union, but have no clue about self-governance or true independence.
would not 1500 men who are angry at Russians better achieve their goals by thinking of ways to go to Crimea to attack Russians - instead of attacking their own parliament?
The entire country is little more than fractious mobs.
They ran the government out of town.
A well trained and disciplined Boy Scout troop could take Ukraine in 2 days.
It doesn't take a "Putinista" to see that.
"'The Ukraine? You know what the Ukraine is, it's a sitting duck. A road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak. It's feeble. I think it's time to put the hurt on the Ukraine."
I don't think it's necessary to mock them, but you'd think they would at least take up arms in their won defense.
All I can figure is that, other than the neoNazi's in the West, most Ukrainians would welcome some law and order.
And people say that I’m wrong for saying FReeRepublic Putinistas don’t cheer for Putin. Comrade, you’re spot on. You’re reasoning shows why communism and Putinism appeals to the lowbrow, the philistine, the dilettante, and the dunderhead. Go forth and advocate vile things, comrade.
Is this Svoboda, or are they linked?
It is a quote from The SEINFELD SHOW...
I knew there was a Risk, that someone wouldn’t get the reference.
Well, if I was into conspiracy theories, I’d say that The “Right Sector”, and YOU, are on the Russians payroll, paid to make the Ukrainians look like idiots, so that the Russians are justified to take control.
...if I was into conspiracy theories.
You meant to write “if I were” and not “if I was” but you’re too ill educated and stupid to know it or to know the difference. The lack of education and cognitive skills might explain why you’re so fond of Putin, who has $75 billion in the bank that he’s stole from the Russian people. You’re a Putinista even though he’s helping Iran get a nuclear weapon and even though he opposed Reagan, Thatcher, Solidarity, and the Pope.
The whole thing looked suspiciously like the uprising to oust Mubarak in Egypt to me. Anyone who questioned what was really going on was immediately attacked for being opposed to freedom. They fell silent when the islamists took control.
The right sector Nazis who did the dirty work in Kiev got seen by the world for who they are and what they did. The EU-leaning gov wants to disarm them and sent them home. Why would they do that? They'd end up with nothing except for being in hopeless debt and poverty to appease their EU masters.
Ukraine is a deadbeat country full whiners. They complain about Russia even though they were basically getting free gas. Now they will try to steal as much as they can from the IMF, after reneging on an earlier IMF deal.
No doubt you’ve got it figured out. What think tank do you work at and how much do they pay you to come up with comments to support a Putin-funded newspaper’s article?
Yeah, they’re whiners. A lot of them had their families killed by Russians a generation ago. They should be grateful for the free gas.
Sure I am...
You have no idea how crazy and hysterical you make who you support, do you?
There can be no discussion with you, you just insult and hate. Maybe posting another photoshopped picture of a Russian Medal might do you some good?
If I'm a troll, how'd I get here before you, newbie?
Go sell crazy Putinism to lowbrow people like you elsewhere, you pro-KGB rube.
Rossiya Segodnya (official name: Federal State Unitary Enterprise International Information Agency Rossiya Segodnya; from Russian: Россия Сегодня, Russia Today) is the official Russian government owned international news agency founded by presidential decree on 9 December 2013. Rossiya Segodnya incorporates the former RIA Novosti news service and the Voice of Russia international radio service (formerly Radio Moscow).
The crazy is deep within this one....
You wouldn’t know a “Putinista!” if one bit you in the a**, kid. You just try to divert any discussion you don’t ike with 12-yr old internet troll behavior. I’m done.
My brother has a co-worker whose wife is Ukrainian. He said her family are reporting bodies in the streets. Both Russian military and Ukrainians.
And I think you're full of BS.
A goon who stole from his own Treasury, tried to rewrite his Constitution, showered his friends with cash, and operated with blatant disregard for the law. We could use some Ukrainians here.
Well, the international news media has certainly been keeping a tight lid on that one...
This report is certainly anecdotal, but these people also claim the media isn’t reporting what is actually happening. This also may have nothing to do with this singular topic.
“A goon who stole from his own Treasury, tried to rewrite his Constitution, showered his friends with cash, and operated with blatant disregard for the law.”
Enough about Obama. What about Ukraine?
Its the militant wing of the Ukrainian national socialist movement. Svoboda was too liberal for these guys. :^)

And I think most damningly he allowed the Ukrainian army to be striped down bare ass naked with the russian bear next door. There was a report a few days ago that the army could not mobilize because they lacked vehicle batteries!

Yes, sure.... He was drinking baby blood too. Do you really want to blame their later president for all the troubles? Bottom line is EVERY Ukrainian administration since 1992 was corrupt to boot. You simply have no idea. Do some research who are a ‘gas princess’ Timoshenko, and pre-Yanukovich hero of ‘color revolution’ Yuschenko.
Timoshenko’s husband was running a video rental as she first entered office and he was one of the Europe’s richest people a few years later. Yuschenko’s son was infamous for hanging around with notorious gangsters in the open in Kiev, drugging himself to near-death and running over people in his sport cars at the time, throwing money around. Every policeman who ever tried to arrest him was fired or prosecuted.
They have stolen and sold their batteries decades ago.
That’s what I hear from friends in Ukraine also.
Where are you from?
There is another source for your reading pleasure. It quotes a Ukrainian newspaper, you can go even deeper if you read Ukrainian.
Does the same work for the BBC?
The BBC is a public service broadcaster that operates under a Royal Charter and a Licence and Agreement from the Home Secretary. Within the United Kingdom its work is funded principally by an annual television licence fee, which is charged to all British households, companies and organisations using any type of equipment to receive live television broadcasts; the level of the fee is set annually by the British Government and agreed by Parliament.
Disagree. Ukrainians are in general a hard working people who have struggled under corrupt governments seemingly forever
We whine about corruption here but theirs make ours look like stealing penny candy
Yes, the same applies to the BBC. But Russian thought patterns are different from those of the Brits and of ourselves (learned during Cold War 1).
I believe that governments should not be owning or controlling civilian broadcasting corporations, by the way. I disagree, for example, with government control and funding of some of our own civilian broadcasting stations.
