Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is at the center of a growing political controversy after it was revealed Thursday that more payments from his campaign funds had been made to his granddaughter than previously reported.
The Nevada Democrat promised earlier this week to reimburse $16,787 his campaign gave to Ryan Elisabeth Reid in 2013 for what was described as payments for “holiday gifts.” Those payments were reportedly made to purchase items from Ryan Elisabeth Reid, who has her own line of jewelry. Reid defended the payments, saying they complied with Federal Election Commission standards that allow the purchase of goods from relatives if those goods are sold at fair market value.
Jahan Wilcox, a Republican National Committee spokesman, decried Harry Reid's use of campaign monies as a "personal slush fund."
Things got worse for Reid when the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported Thursday that federal disclosures show the campaign paid another $14,481 to Reid's granddaughter in 2012, bringing to $31,268 the total paid to Ryan Elisabeth in 2012 and 2013 to purchase gifts for Reid's support staff.

Reid knows the endgame, so why worry? Holder’s DOJ won’t do a damn thing, even if the FEC refers the case for prosecution and plenty of evidence.
Senate won’t do a thing unless the GOP takes the majority and that’s 50/50. Even then, the Senate may do something, but DOJ won’t.
Bottom feeders vote for people like Reid.
Harry Reid is detested even in the Senate within his own Party. They see him as a anchor around their neck in the upcoming two Election Cycles.
Don’t be suprised after a few more Mental moments in the Well of the Senate he doesn’t suddenly decide his health needs some time away from the Senate.
Then Dicky Durbin will take over...With his sidekick Chuckles Schumer.
Don’t forget, John McLoser is BFF with Dicky. They both would stick the knife in Reid’s ribs if they thought they would benefit politically.
I have never heard a democrat say a bad word about Harry Reid, ever. I live in one of the most democrat states in the U.S.
The amazing thing about this story is that Harry Reid has plenty of money and could have given his granddaughter gifts from his own personnel funds. This story just shows how corrupt and greedy Harry really is.
They were discussing this on Hannity last night. They said the average price of a piece of Reid’s granddaughter’s jewelry is $70, so for almost $17k, that’s about 240 gifts, which they mentioned was a lot of gifts!
Well here is hoping it pulls him down and out, so many rats falling down, spring is coming, time to clean the house and air it out I say.

Note to GOP leadership! Or are you frightened it would bounce back on you for doing the same thing.
I think the idea is that he bought jewelry from her, which he gave as gits.
