“Any fence that cuts landowners off from the river will never be allowed. That is the only source of water in the region.”

The Romans, and people before them, came up with this GREAT IDEA, called PIPES.

And pipes are going to feed the cattle and other wildlife on our side of the river how exactly? what magic is going to push the water through the pipe into a trough? and who is going to pay me for the lost view or pay to pump the water into troughs? who is going to maintain those pumps?

If you ever owned property on a lake or beach... just imagine the government coming and building a massive fence between your house and the water, and you’ll know how I feel.

If you just cut off the economic freebies, Medical care and any employment of Illegal Aliens you would not need a fence. Family members having to support their own would tire of taking care of them if they were made to live in the real world as it should be.
All we do is condone small communes for Mexicans to live the American dream that Americans do not enjoy themselves.
Throw the silver spoon away.
Throw a 50 bag of corn in your back yard and see how many squirrels and other wildlife remain in the neighbors yard!

I figured it was the view. Sorry, but I put my country first.

As to the other challenges, they have been overcome, for THOUSANDS of years - so I’m sure you’ll get by.

It comes down to this. If a fence must be built, build it on the Mexican side of the river.

If you have 100’s of miles of desert on our side, you don’t need a fence. The desert is 1000000000 times bigger obstacle than any fence.

I’m sorry for being snotty, but the Dems would be NOWHERE on Amnesty if they hadn’t, very cleverly, gotten Republicans to start knifing each other on the issue.

Their plan has WORKED GREAT. They tell big business that they will get cheap, reliable, and LEGAL labor (right now, only the first two are possible). They tell tech that we’ll import a few million more programmers (to greatly lower their costs), etc.

And these people that are nominally Republicans EAT IT UP and could CARE LESS about the future of the country for their own children and grandchildren...they just see money to be made and that is ALL that matters to them.

Amnesty and Immigration should be a NO-BRAINER in this country. If you are here illegally, you get NOTHING. If you’re caught, you’re sent home. Then you bring in temp workers for a few years at a time, leave their families home, and then send them back at the end of that period.

But if we won’t (or can’t, thanks to judges) do the above - then yes, you do what is possible - and we nearly had a fence built, until Kay ripped it out.

Gravity. Pressure. Suction.

We agree with you, That is why on our side of the border will be nothing more than a gas station and/convenience store. As long as folks come in through the border station on the Republic/Canadian border or the US/Republic border, or, now this is important, or through the legitimate entry points on the coast, there will be non problems, not even a passport is needed. All are welcome, we are, after all, vacation land. We are not going to be hermits, we want your tourist dollars, we just don't want any part of your UN or wars. treaties, or education system.

By the way, there is no welfare system, other than that run by Churches and social organizations, and even they can only offer help to Republic of Maine citizens. Not even the counties or the municipalities can offer welfare.

We need a wall, not just a fence, with no exploitable gaps.

Any fence that cuts landowners off from the river will never be allowed. That is the only source of water in the region.

Build it mid-river, on the borderline. Tangled razorwire underneath will allow water to pass but not intruders.

We need 2 fences with Bouncing Betty land mines in between.

Careful! A couple of years ago I suggested mining the border; the post was pulled and I received a FReepmail from a moderator stating I could be suspended or banned for that kind if talk.

A small waterwheel and windmill upstream of your pickup pipe could power a pump.

No one is forcing them to cross the desert. They should stay in their country and try to make it better.

I do agree a crackdown needs to cover all the angles at once.
