Oil giant cutting jobs in Kern County

BAKERSFIELD, CA -- As far as jobs are concerned, it could be the first tangible fallout from legislation to beef up oilfield fracking regulations in California.

Baker Hughes Incorporated announced Thursday afternoon it will release or redeploy 110 workers in its western region due to what it called "declining market needs." Rick Pierruci, the company's managing director for the western region says the reduction in force is largely due to the recent passing of California Senate Bill 4, which further regulates hydraulic fracturing operations, causing a slow-down of related activity for the oil and gas industry.

Bottom line, the oil service company says Senator Fran Pavli's bill is causing a backlog in the processing of permits for fracking jobs in Kern County. Baker Hughes says other oilfield service companies are being negatively impacted as well.

For those who want to see a video showing how horizontal drilling and fracking is done, Northern Gas and Oil has done a great one. It’s 6 minutes.

It includes a visual piece on how fresh water aquifers are protected from contamination.

I have always said and will say it agaain, “The Environmental Lobby and the Politicians they Buy are the biggest threat to the economy and security of the United States”. They are the reason for this and the reason we don’t have an XL Pipeline amongst many other impediments to being energy self sufficient.

Maybe in Texas, but for sure in Maine the day after the secession vote.

One of the key elements of our financial plan, one with no income tax, is drilling and refining oil.

No income tax, no SS tax, no EPA, no Dept of education or energy, no CIA, FBI, and the list goes on. Got a question, email it to freemaine at hushmail.com with "director of communications" in the subject line. You may be asked a couple of questions before your question(s) is/are answered.

If you are a member of the press, you must state that in your email, once verified, you will be given a name and phone number to contact.

The workers own trailers that are their homes away from home.

They will tow their rigs elsewhere

Actually, I should give a slightly more serious answer:

My question was not to the author of the article. Rather, it was to Baker Hughes Inc. who claimed that demand is basically down (at least, that is how a reasonable person would interpret “declining market needs”).

Keep in mind the economic cost of 110 jobs at say just $75,000/job.

Baker Hughes is an oil field service company. They service the oil wells doing a wide range of jobs such as fracing, wireline, cementing, and oil tools among others. Once their is a slow down in drilling or completing wells be it from government regulation as in this case, or from market demand for oil being down and suppressing oil prices then service companies such as Baker Hughes take a hit and they see it fast.

Demand for hydro frac services is down in California. They were not talking about the global demand for oil.

California is sitting on an ocean of oil and gas but the liberals want to keep everyone (but themselves) poor.
It is all about control.

"That is how has been going."

Other than this one insignificant typo, this is a magnificent, powerful and far reaching expose' and well worth the short read for any American Californian!!!

You simply have a brilliant ability to focus on truths that you ferret out of the fog of politics and mysticism!!!

Bless you for your efforts.

California also has a huge stockpile of oil off their coastline. But the environoweenies won’t allow drilling offshore. OK fine, the oil exploration companies pull out. Hey Gov Moonbeam, how’s all that green crap working for you?

Isn’t it amazing how dumb liberals bitch about the one percenters then vote for the Pelosis and Reids? They actually believe those politicians care about them.

I don't know what happened to Dog Gone! All I know is that he seems to be gone!!! He could be lurking but I think he got into a beef with some here about not being a rabid enough conservative toward "W" and I think he finally left in disgust.

I once typed to him about stopping by for a cup of coffee when planning my 2009 trip through Houston.

But when I got there and was in the LBJ space center in the control room for the moon launches, they reminded me on a Wednesday that the space shuttle was lifting off the following Monday to service the space telescope and we jumped right up and drove straight to Cape Canaveral without another thought!!!

Quite possibly, knowing who he represented. Plus how screwed up things are now that his buddy “W” has retired! Maybe if we type enough tantilizing stuff on here about him now, he’ll come up out of the shadows, ya think? (grin)
