Can a public official mention Jesus at an official meeting? According to a federal judge in Maryland, the answer is no. According to Carroll County commissioner Robin Frazier, its yes and shes willing to go to jail to defend what she sees is her right to free speech and religious expression:
Commissioner defies judge's order, talks Jesus
Out of respect for my colleagues Im not sure how strongly they feel about it. Im willing to go to jail over it, Frazier said during the meeting, referring to Jesus Christ twice despite the ruling.
(Let) the Lord Jesus Christ to admit me to render these deserved thanks and praises for thy manifold mercies extended toward me. Let thy blessings guide this day, and forever, through Jesus Christ and his blessed form of prayer, I conclude my weak petitions, she said during the meeting.
After receiving complaints, some Carroll County residents and a group called American Humanist Association issued a warning to the board about sectarian prayer during meetings in 2012 and then followed up with a lawsuit in April 2013.
After the judge has already agreed with us that thats whats going on, I think its particularly troubling that one of the council members saw fit to violate not only the Constitution but the judges very specifically ruling that they cant be doing this, said Monica Miller, an attorney for the American Humanist Association.
This fellow seemed to have the best take on the situation:
My concern is, really, who cares? If they say Jesus, I mean, does it really offend anybody? questioned resident Brian Resch.

What nation do I live in. This goes against everything I know and love about this country. This is the exact stuff we grew up fearing about the Soviet Union!!!
Correct. This is the problem with progressives, thye want to make us mindless robots. So when thye run their mouths about how bad it is in other countries with their freedoms.
Our government is no better.
John 15:18-25
New International Version (NIV)
The World Hates the Disciples
18 If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: A servant is not greater than his master.[a] If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: They hated me without reason.
the federal judge is trying to overthrow the government, it is not his place to "abridge free speech" it is his place to enforce the oath that he took, and receives wages and compensation for holding his position.
(its called breach of contract if he fails to do so)
If he wishes to write an amendment to the Constitution.... then follow the f'en procedures.

A public official can fall to their knees and pray to God at an official meeting if they desire. That is according to the US Constitution.
After the judge has already agreed with us that thats whats going on, I think its particularly troubling that one of the council members saw fit to violate not only the Constitution but the judges very specifically ruling that they cant be doing this, said Monica Miller, an attorney for the American Humanist Association.
You have to have more bends then a pretzel to think the Constitution prohibits mention Jesus at a meeting.
Members of the Humanist Cult are intolerant bigots.
We now live in a country that has speech police! There is absolutely nothing whatsoever in the US Constitution that gives government the right to limit religious speech. #1 we have a constitutional right to say what we want (even if some find it offensive) and #2 we have a constitutional right to practice our religions. One doesn’t give up those rights simply because they’re associated in some way with government.
Even if one doesn’t want to hear the name Jesus, think about where these laws lead! It’s destroying the civil society—not defending it! We’re giving government the right to police what we say, and that power could be turned against anyone of us at any time. Not only that, but it creates a litigious society where citizens run to government to browbeat their neighbors. Don’t like what someone says? Sue ‘em! It’s sick.
Again, even if one wants to silence Christians, just think of the can of worms that’s opened up when we give the government the power to police offensive or religious speech!
God bless this woman.
It’s incredible. And these judges who struggle with the interpretation of our laws....all they have to do is look at a few history books! Read a few federalist papers to get their intent.. But nooooo, it’s so much more complicated than that.
The judge isn’t going to do anything about this, and the judge knows it.
American Humanist Association.
They want their religion followed to the letter of mans law.
Every one else must abandon theirs.
