Putin invites Obama to consider international action to stabilize Ukraine

MOSCOW, March 29, /ITAR-TASS/. In a telephone conversation with his US counterpart Barack Obama Russian President Vladimir Putin drew attention to the continuing rampage by extremists in Ukraine, who are committing acts of intimidation against civilians, bodies of power, and law enforcers in different parts of Ukraine and in Kiev and do so with impunity, the Kremlin’s press-service has said.

In this context the Russian leader suggested considering likely steps by the international community to help stabilize the situation in Ukraine. It was agreed that Russian and US foreign ministers would discuss specific parameters of such joint work in the near future.

Also, Putin pointed to the external blockade of Trans-Dniestria, which posed considerable obstructions to the region’s people in their everyday life - to the freedom of movement and normal trading and economic activities. It was pointed out that Russia sought a fair and comprehensive settlement of the Trans-Dniestrian problem and was interested in the effective operation of the existing negotiating format five-plus-two

“And bitch slapping the Kenyan wuss in the WH.”

What else do you expect? Obama is likely to be a triple or multiple agent or intelligence asset for the Soviet-Russian KGB-FSB intelligence services, the Saudis, certain elements of factions of the CIA, and the Muslim Brotherhood. Just as Yanukovych and his cronies served as agents for the Russian Communists to destablize the Ukrainian economy and government, so to Obama has a long history from birth of serving the Communists and is assigned a mission to destablize the American economy and government.

Russia can only win a simple hand. They have little in the way of chips. Over the long term, they lose financially and lose credibility as a respected nation.

That credibility is already gone.

Well I figure there are varied threads in this tapestry Putin and Obama are weaving now, along with the EU/Nato.

Not to mention the Presidential Candidates now surfacing....who will acquire support from all interested parties and nations outside Ukraine, that we can be sure.

I think if advances further the most will be snatching the Eastern strip of Ukraine,..and perhaps Trans...as he wants a buffer Zone .....understandable he would desire this as Ukraine is on the map for joining EU/Nato way down the road.

He’ll settle however for Crimea I think, if push comes to shove.

There was an Intelligence speaker talking today who said should Putin move inland much of it will be for show...there will be some fighting but most of what will be televised and via media will be just that...show.

Just as the media has been dancing to the tunes played by all concerned...they will do so with any advance Putin makes into Ukraine.

When the US went into Iraq I was so livid with how the media made our soldiers look. ...and they were biased toward IRaq more than supporting our troops. CNN was actually kicked out for false reporting and even more than that.

I hope this can be settled without Putin going further....but all this reporting of Putin calling Obama or Obama calling Putin...is for the media and consumer consumption IMO. The truth is is the middle of both sides and wobbles between them.

Not familiar with those who created this map....but we know Ukraine doesn’t sit well itself...not to say NAto forces lined up in surrounding nations.

Obama tell the truth. Come now that is like Hell, MI being frozen over in July!. Gee when will the media get its head out of Obama’s backside. No wonder there are so many flies around in the pictures of Obama. The media people attract them because they are full of BM.

There are substantial differences between East & West Germany and East & West Ukraine.

East and West Germany have been involuntarily and forcibly separated by former "Allies" in WWII — "The Great War" as Russians call it — but populated by Germans who spoke the same language (dialects notwithstanding) and had essentially the same culture (and generational memories even during 1945-1990 separation).

It was exactly the opposite in many parts of Ukraine whose borders (mostly in the Western part) have been expanded officially immediately post-war, and later, in 1954 added Crimea in the East due to "gesture of goodwill" by Nikita Khrushchev who took over as the Soviet Party leader after Stalin's death in 1953.

Language and culture of Eastern part of Ukraine is mostly Russian, not Ukrainian, and there has been a lot of tension between these two parts of Ukraine.

Many in the Eastern part are not unhappy with Russia taking back Crimea and exerting its "influence" on the "Eastern front" which also happens to be rich in gas, coal and other natural resources (Donetsk and Donbass region).

While by no means perfect, a better analogy would be Bloc Québécois in Canada, or former Czechoslovakia.

Perhaps by “international action” Putin meant exchanging missiles at each other.

Why would Putin want the western part of Ukraine not populated by Russians? It would make more sense to take as much of the country as he can that wants to be part of Russia and not have to deal with the crazies. Let the west get back in line the nazis and other extreme right groups that they supported in the coup. A partition might make sense.

I mis-read the title of this thread and thought it said “auction”, not “action”.

Actually, putting it up on ebay may be a good capitalist solution.

Oh, to have been NSA listening in on that call.

At least, we may have an unbiased transcription of what was said.
