Whose Side are you On? If you don’t care whether Republicans win, care that Democrats lose.

March 29, 2014 4:00 AM Which Side Are You On? If you don’t care whether Republicans win, care that Democrats lose.

By Kevin D. Williamson

For conservatives, the story of the Obama years has been the depressing spectacle of Republicans fighting a rearguard action covering their retreat from a Democratic agenda backed by superior numbers. Republicans began the Obama administration with effectively no leverage: Barack Obama in the White House, Nancy Pelosi in the speaker’s chair, and Harry Reid running the Senate. The outcome of that was the enactment of the Affordable Care Act, the worst domestic defeat for the cause of limited government in a generation. The 2010 congressional elections gave Republicans some relief... .

democrats love and trust government and democrats trust the news media.

Every democrat congressman or politician voted for Obamacare

every democrat is a socialist/marxist/collectivist who believes an individual has no rights even to own a gun nor property

every democrat is a threat to your freedom and ability to survive.

What was Einstein’s definition of insanity again?!?

When the Rs promise then renege, why should conservatives support those same (moderate/liberal) R politicians that refuse to act conservatively?

Because the Rs will only set the oven to broil, as opposed to incinerate?

John Boehner and Mitch McConnell have felt the wrath of the Right for spending too much time playing defense, but voters — including conservative voters — left them with little opportunity to do much of anything else.

Not true. They could have led.

These articles blaming conservatives for our sorry state are flying thick and fast. And each one makes me despise the GOPe more.

Well, Gee...why don’t you just dredge up one of Sowell’s recent “we gotta elect RINOs” columns? Same thing.

This socialist , marxist traitor Obama has one goal : the destruction of America, the destruction of all individual rights, the destruction of freedom and right to own any property , namely full world socialism/collectivism.

The fundamental political conflict in America today is, as it has been for a century, individualism vs. collectivism. Does the individual’s life belong to him—or does it belong to the group, the community, society, or the state? if it belongs to the state then the individual has no right to own guns nor even property or a house.

there are 2 groups of people conservative and liberals. democrats and republicans. but really it’s a battle between individualism vs collectivism. I’m telling you all every single democrat is a collectivist and they are driving us to a state where an individual will not even be allowed to own a house nor property much less guns. but it’s the same principle : private ownership.

democrats/liberals/progressives or whatever they call themselves are just collectivists which = also marxists/socialists/communists

Individualism is the idea that the individual’s life belongs to him and that he has an inalienable right to live it as he sees fit, to act on his own judgment, to keep and use the product of his effort, and to pursue the values of his choosing. It’s the idea that the individual is sovereign, an end in himself, and the fundamental unit of moral concern. This is the ideal that the American Founders set forth and sought to establish when they drafted the Declaration and the Constitution and created a country in which the individual’s rights to life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness were to be recognized and protected.

Collectivism is the idea that the individual’s life belongs not to him but to the group or society of which he is merely a part, that he has no rights, and that he must sacrifice his values and goals for the group’s “greater good.” According to collectivism, the group or society is the basic unit of moral concern, and the individual is of value only insofar as he serves the group. As one advocate of this idea puts it: “Man has no rights except those which society permits him to enjoy. From the day of his birth until the day of his death society allows him to enjoy certain so-called rights and deprives him of others; not . . . because society desires especially to favor or oppress the individual, but because its own preservation, welfare, and happiness are the prime considerations.”1

Individualism or collectivism—which of these ideas is correct? Which has the facts on its side?

Individualism does, and we can see this at every level of philosophic inquiry: from metaphysics, the branch of philosophy concerned with the fundamental nature of reality; to epistemology, the branch concerned with the nature and means of knowledge; to ethics, the branch concerned with the nature of value and proper human action; to politics, the branch concerned with a proper social system.

Nothing the GOPe would love more than for conservative voters to become a bunch of mind numbed robots like democrat voters.

The democrats have effectively informed their voters that Hillary will be their candidate and democrats have simply gone along and accepted it. Completely devoid of free will.

Sorry, NR, you have become establishment hacks since WFB died. GOP leaders have become worthless. Many would go the route of Specter and Jeffords if they lived in other states. Look at John Warner and Richard Luger, supporting DEMOCRATS now. Spoiled brats. I think that Boehner, Cantor, McConnell and McCain would be Democrats if they lived in New York. Bob

Yep...appeasing, whining, sniveling excuses for lazy, feather-bedded RINOs.

The fact is they HAD the trifecta (House, Senate, Administration) under early Bush II years - it got us a Patriot Act which is now being used against conservatives by the NSA,CIA, FBI et al by Obama for his own purposes. It also got us NCLB, Prescription Medicare, unchecked debt incursion, AND the frigging DHS and TSA. Real good job guys.

Screw this “we gotta” crap. Been there done that. To me now generic Republican is worse than Democrat.

If a supposed Republican can’t say and stick by NO DEBT, NO AMNESTY and stop gun control efforts, pledge to oust Boehner/McConnell, then they will not get my vote

Party over principle, blah. Romney’s career long support for abortion made it impossible for me to vote for him. Even with the stakes as high as they were that is a line I can not and will not cross, akin to denying Jesus or beiing thrown to lions. I choose lions.
