Russia Conducts Military Exercises In Moldova's Breakaway Region Near Ukraine's W Border

Days after a top NATO commander warned of Russia’s military buildup on Ukraine’s eastern border, Russian troops staged military exercises in Moldova’s breakaway region of Transnistria, which borders Ukraine on the southwest, the Russian news agency Interfax reported Wednesday.

"There is absolutely sufficient [Russian] force postured on the eastern border of Ukraine to run to Transnistria if the decision was made to do that, and that is very worrisome," U.S. Air Force Gen. Philip Breedlove, NATO's supreme allied commander in Europe, said Sunday at the Brussels offices of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, a Washington, D.C.-based think tank. That would mean an invasion across the heart of the country.

Transnistria is not recognized as an independent state by any U.N. member nation, and Moldova, a former Soviet republic that was once part of Romania, considers it an autonomous region within its borders. As in Crimea, the majority of the population in Transnistria are ethnic Russians.

A spokesperson for the head of Russia's Western Military District said forces stationed in Transnistria had "conducted an anti-terrorism drill and practiced operations to rebuff an attack on their military base," according to Interfax, as reported by Sydney Morning Herald in Australia.

I still can decide if this is the Sudetenland or the Anschluss.

Thank You for Posting Sweetest Onyx.

I expect Russia to take everything East of the Dnieper River.

But it sounds like they will need a land bridge to Moldavia.....

How did the Russians get to Transnistria, which is entirely surrounded by Ukraine on the east and Moldova on the west? They would have to cross Ukraine to get there from Russia.

Always remember, as senator, Obama worked out a deal to disarm Ukraine. Arms that ended up across the world in hot spots filled with Islamic terrorists.

Obama, at worst, is only mad with Putin for making him look bad.

The new soviets are on a roll now that they only have to face a neutered europe, and an ideologically sympathetic US Regime. Of course the new soviets have the chinese card to play if the westerners get too uppity. One call to beijing, and the communists could grind the US economy and industry to a halt. And don’t forget our socialist and communist neighbors in central and south america to add to another front to fend against.

Moldova used to be a part of the Soviet Union. When the USSR ceased to exist in 1991, the Soviet 14th Guards Army was stranded in Transnistria. It took the side of Russian separatists and has remained there to this very day as peacekeepers to protect the predominantly Slavic population, which is Russian, Ukrainian and Bulgarian.

Russia has a flat tax of 13%.

That’s several percent lower than the flat tax Steve Forbes was striving for.

In light of this fact, how sensible is it to describe Russia as “communist”?

Which is more socialist, Russia or the USA?

Russia doesn’t have its schoolchildren reading “Heather Has Two Mommies” or “Daddy’s (male) Roommate”, either.

Role reversal...The U.S. is in serious decline morally spiritually...and naturally economically. They should have listened to Solzhenitsyn in 1978 at Harvard when he warned the Americans.

Or they should have listened to these warnings from this former Soviet KGB agent Yurii Bezmenov in his interview with G. Edward Griffin about the Soviet's plan to completely demoralize the West as a precursor to taking us down.

Or read this: Interview with Yurii Bezmenov

Or even more basic and foundational, just read and heed God's warnings in the Bible about what happens to countries who forget the Lord, who become immoral, decadent and idolatrous.
