'Pro-Life' West Virginia Gov. Tomblin Vetoes 20-Week Abortion Restriction

On Friday, West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D) vetoed a measure that would protect unborn children from abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act was passed with overwhelming bipartisan support by the Democrat-led state legislature.

As Breitbart News reported on March 10, the West Virginia state Senate passed the measure, 29-5, with the support of 19 Democrats. The bill also passed in the state House by a vote of 79-17 with the support of 33 Democrats.

The legislation, which would protect unborn children beginning at 20 weeks of pregnancy, is based on scientific evidence that unborn babies are capable of feeling pain by 20 weeks of life.

Similar laws have been passed in 13 states, and a federal version has been approved by the U.S. House of Representatives and has more than 40 cosponsors in the U.S. Senate.

In a press statement regarding his veto of the measure, Tomblin, who has claimed to be pro-life, ironically said, “I believe there is no greater gift of love than the gift of life. I have stated this time and again throughout my career and it is reflected in my legislative voting record.”

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin (D)

Baby killer. Is he up for reelection in November? Nevermind. He wouldn’t have vetoed this bill if he was.

Let's see Tomblin is pro-life, but he vetoed a law that would protect the unborn? Gov. Tombstone will be putting lots of the unborn under tombstones.

Overturn the veto!

Well then he needs to abort himself; otherwise, he’s just a poser.

I would think WV will stick with its abortions even though they could use more people.

West Virginia needs to be asking the Lord for forgiveness for electing a man who apparently is given over to a reprobate mindset. God will not be mocked.

Senator Joe Manchin is another lying ass WV politician that claims to be pro-life and pro-second amendment, but he belongs to the party of death. How in the world these lying democrats keep pulling the wool over the eyes of the people of WV I will never know. The only reason that sorry Manchin was elected senator is because he ran against Obamacare. He even put out a campaign ad showing him shooting Obamacare signs with a 12 gauge. The minute this fraud became US senator he was kissing Obama’s rear and voted to fund the bill that he ran against. But WV keeps voting for this fake and fraud. The current governor is cut from the same cloth.

Check out this site http://www.jesus-is-savior.com/Evils%20in%20America/Abortion%20is%20Murder/sacrifice.htm and put things into perspective. Our nation is no better than those giving sacrifices to Molech. You might say our country has a Molech mentality.

WV needs to stop electing Democrats because their grand-pappy always voted for them.

Just because they speak with a mountain twang, and say they are conservative doesn’t mean squat.

Can the House and Senate override the veto? It looks like they have the votes to do so.

OK. So this guy is pro-life....except of course when it means actually doing something to prevent the butchery of unborn children. Kind of reminds me of the Vichy gop in that sense: staunch conservatives until of course they have to actually do something that limits the scope of government.

But I guess we FReepers are just a bunch of “purists” in that we expect politicians to do what they were elected to do.

The legislation, which would protect unborn children beginning at 20 weeks of pregnancy, is based on scientific evidence that unborn babies are capable of feeling pain by 20 weeks of life.

There is plenty of reason to think that they feel pain long before 20 weeks. The "research" that "established" that babies don't feel pain until 20 weeks was published by a bunch of abortionists who have a strong financial incentive to deny that unborn babies feel anything.

I wonder about these people who remain strong supporters of abortion as birth control, despite being shown the ample scientific evidence of the humanity of the unborn baby.
