Well we all know tea is a gateway drug...next thing you know, they’ll be hooked on coffee.
Since pretty much forever. The rationale seems to be that once you have put something in the trash, you have relinquished possession, and then anyone else is free to use it for any purpose.
Uncle Si Robertson would be tick off if somebody tell him that he can’t drink his iced tea LOL!
Although I should add that if the trash is still on your property (within your curtilage), most jurisdictions will still require a warrant. If you have put it out on the street, probably not.
I buy Yerba Mate by the kilo for $6.99 at a New London, CT store the leans heavily Latin American everything. (Great store!) If they ever looked at my trash they wouldn’t even bother going to the judge to get the warrant. Other loose teas also in use, approach with caution. Irish Breakfast is my favorite.

When the USSCT upheld ACA as constitutional, the United States of America overtly crossed the threshold to become a totalitarian state. Most people do not understand what totalitarian means. It does not mean as bad as possible, or as controlled as possible. It means that the State regards itself as the arbiter of ALL aspects of life. What the State does not regulate is permissive, but the State has plenary power. Its reach is unrestricted.
