Climate change could cost more than $100 billion a year

Tackling the effects of climate change could cost governments around the world more than $100 billion a year, a United Nations panel of experts said Monday.

A report by the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, says that a temperature rise of 2 degrees Celsius will wipe out up to 2% of the world's income by 2050.

"If we get up to 4 degrees temperature rise, which most scientists now expect would happen if we carry on emitting greenhouse gasses as we do, then the cost could be much more severe," Chris Hope, a climate change researcher at Cambridge University said.

The combined cost of crop losses, rising sea levels, higher temperatures and fresh water shortages could mount of to between $70 and $100 billion a year, the report said.

Someone ought to begin stumping for global warming based on all the economic activity it will cause. Even if they do have to rebuild all the beachfront hotels, think like a liberal and think all the jobs it will create. And then there is genuine opportunity like all the newly arable land. Be creative. $100 billion is peanuts. We should reap trillions.

The cost of adapting to climate change, if there is any, will be only a small fraction of the cost trying to prevent it.

And fruitlessly tilting the c-change windmill will cost at least 10x that.

Cut the cr*p, CNN. The sum total science IQ of your entire staff wouldn’t reach three digits.

Go back to your normal lying and pontificating and leave science to grownups.

Climate change isn’t about a real problem, its about expanding the power of government and creating a regulatory and tax environment favoring the large businesses over the smaller ones.

Disband the UN. They are nothing but parasites, sucking the last shriveled dollars out of US taxpayers. We are no longer “the richest country on earth”, thanks to the Democrats’ War on the Middle Class.

Lets look at history -

Warm periods - population growth, exploration, scientific discovery

Cold periods - disease, starvation, death

I’m kind of hoping for warm.

Wouldn’t it be cool if “we” were smart enough to pick an issue like this, where you can continually redefine the terms and shift ground without ever getting caught at it, so no matter what facts emerge, you’re always right, and always have the support of the big mouthpieces? It’s like they have their cake and not only eat it too, but get fresh candles to blow out and more wishes every day! No matter what the facts are, they can find a way to prove their argument. Too hot? Climate Change. Too windy? Climate Change. Nothing unusual? Well, that’s Climate Change too, just the calm before the storm.

I'm voting for 2o C. temp increase, and 1500 - 1800 ppm CO2, so we can open up agriculture at higher latitudes and optimize food production on the Eurasian landmass. Wealth abounding.

Amirite?

You realize, of course, that if the governments had passed climate change laws years ago, this extremely cold winter would be used as “proof” that climate change laws work!

We should reap trillions.

What about higher forest productivity because they're growing faster too?

What about the extra revenue from higher agricultural yields? PLUS, a longer growing season means less food has to be imported, lowering the cost of living.

Warmer temps also mean lower fuel bills (and, paradoxically, less CO2 produced).

Global warming is GOOD for society!!

Money down the Climate Change Drain. Doing nothing would cost nothing and the consequences would be nothing except that the world would have $100 billion a year that it could leave in the hands of the real owners of that wealth rather than in the hands of a bunch of racketeer politicians.

Tuned on CNN for a few minutes this morning. That was enough for me - Talking again (still and forever) about MH370 while the scroll at the bottom highlighted the doom and gloom over the latest IPCC report. Flight 370 is the only thing that has saved their abysmal ratings this past month.

And fighting climate change - that is, opposing the four seasons to the eternal profit of Boxer, Kerry, Markey, Gore et al - will cost untold trillions.

But, hey, it’s a good cause. Can’t have too many carbon billionaires, can we?
And who doesn’t want to eliminate for all time thunder, lightning, rain, tornadoes, hurricanes, storms, rain, fog and drizzle, right?

Perfect climate for all, abundant crops without sources of water, life’s a beach.
