Cable TV viewership is declining, local news audiences are growing, and the number of Americans watching the network's evening news broadcasts is vast and stable, according to the latest report from the Pew Research Journalism Project.
Meanwhile, 36 percent of U.S. adults watch news video online. This is about the same audience percentage that gets its news from Facebook or cable news channels, Pew reported. Most of this demographic is comprised of younger people.
CNN, Fox News and MSNBC were all down in prime time viewership though Fox still led the pack.
Some 22.6 million viewers watch the nightly network news broadcasts, with NBC, though in decline, still leading in the ratings. This is far more than Fox's 1.75 million prime time viewers. ABC's "Good Morning America" continues to be out front among the network's morning news shows.

I’m not sure if I’m reading the above numbers correctly, but...
Cable news is down and Fox pulls only 1.75 million a night. Traditional news still pulls 23 million a night, and my guess is that’s mostly boomers and older. Fox is the largest cable news provider watched.
Take the 4 major cable providers and that means about 3 million get their news off cable. It says Facebook news readers get about the same, and online video gets about the same for a grand total of 9 million on cable, facebook, and video. With the broadcast newsers doing 23 million, that means that out of a nation of 300+ million we have about 32 million watching news.

It also explains why Americans vote the way they do. They don’t have a clue.
Cable news is all but lost to the left. That is why they full speed into the NFL. Propaganda mixed with corn chips and salsa, they can’t hope to hold someone’s attention otherwise.
The latest...they want to unionize college players.
Class warfare and victumhood will be persistent themes. American football becomes soccer...if your fouled in the game you roll on the ground and play act to get the call. => the left destroys every institution they touch.
Lately my wife and I have started watching local news. We get national and world news off the internet.
Fox isn’t news. It’s a “book of the month” club.
Not finding radio date, but wiki says Limbaugh is the leading radio talker with 14.5 million weekly listeners, Hannity second with 13.5 million.
On a 5 day week, that means Limbaugh is 1.5+ times the size of Fox News on a daily basis.
All I know is I watch FNC and switch the channel when Shep comes on and watch any entertaining reruns that are on until I decide to go to sleep. It is all the same news stories hour after hour anyway and I know I will be caught up first thing in the morning on FR or FNC. So tracking my evening news viewing and ratings would put me way into the low info crowd statistics by rating standards.
Fox is just the same old Bush re-treads and cocktail circuit talking heads working for that fat headed Karl Rove. The only purpose of Fox nowaday’s is to get their RINO’s elected...worst they’ll probably assist in getting Hillary elected.

Not long ago, when Obama heard that many people were having trouble paying for their new, higher ObamaCare premiums, he advised them to cancel their cellphones and cable TV subscriptions.
Apparently, increasing numbers of Obama supporters have been taking his advice. This is what CNN and MSNBC get for hyperactively promoting Obama into the presidency for two terms. If justice is served, Chris Matthews and his tingling leg will spend many future days standing in unemployment lines.
How many hours can you listen to them talk about that missing airplane? Tell us when you actually know what happened, and try reporting what’s going on in the world.
I find BBC is the best for actual reporting.
What amazes me is the 23 million a night watching network news. It has to be the older generation stuck in the 6 pm news viewing habit. Otherwise, I can’t imagine why they watch.
I go batty with the onesidedness of it when I check in every now and then, and I can’t figure out how people don’t see that.
And what “fair and balanced” Fox likes also drives me nuts. They like to put some “spokesperson” for the Democrats on and another “spokesperson” for the Republicans. They call it fair, but I call it mindless. You’ve got to be kidding me....’balanced’ is having different sides spouting their partyline talking points over and over and over ad infinitum?
You don’t really need to even listen after the first hearing on any new subject. All you get are the same endlessly repeated talking points.
They need an “original thoughts” segment really badly.
I can’t stand all the commercials so I get most of my news online. Fox seems to be the worst. One story - six commercials - another story - eight commercials.
I agree. They used to almost apologize for breaking away to pay for the airtime...they say something like that.
Now it’s like you say, far more commercials than news.

I switch around watching the evening news and it amazes me that they all report exactly the same stories. Who decides what is the news of the day? Thank goodness for the internet.
Even though Fox is the “largest” it’s just not that many people. In reality, very few people watch cable “news entertainment”. Good thing because it’s ALL crap.
Maybe, just maybe the low info voter will finally get to the real facts if they do some research. Here’ hoping. It’s truly the only thing that will save the Republic.
You just posted why I stopped watching Fox a couple of years ago. It is just incessant talking points arguing. Got on my nerves.
