The Smartest Guy in the Room?

I was just thinking about Enron and all those guys we put in jail…

So, the Ukraine buys almost all its energy (natural gas) from Russia. Revenues from natural gas sales are a primary source of income for Russia. Because of the recent disagreement between Ukraine and Russia, Russia is raising the price of natural gas it sells to Ukraine. Ukraine is almost broke and can't afford the increase in the natural gas price because it would be forced into bankruptcy. Obama just announced the United States is giving Ukraine $1 billion to assist in paying for the higher priced natural gas it buys from Russia. So, the United States is actually giving Russia $1 billion because the money is just passing through Ukraine. The first question: Has Putin figured out a way to raise the price of his natural gas sales and make the U.S. pay for the increase? Next question: Was he really in the KGB or was he a commodities trader? If this analysis is accurate, Putin just got Obama (the USA) to pay him $1 billion by holding a press conference and trucking some troops across town from the Russian Navy base in Ukraine. So, who is the smartest guy in the room now?

And the American taxpayers continue to get screwed.....

Nice assessment. You are correct. I would make one small change: I don’t think Putin outsmarted anyone. Zero was in complete cooperation.

Zero and Putin are both Communists, with the caveat that they are also typical liberals that claim to like communism but really want to line their own pockets. liberalism, communism, is all about their side getting power and money.

Unsustainable stupidity is what America does best.

We have troops in Uganda hunting for Joseph Kony while we’re paying for Ugandan troops to fight in Somalia.

Kinda like Michael Moore. We speak of him as a marxist but he’s one of the shrewdest crony capitalists out there.

As I’ve stated many times....a lot of rich people love to espouse Socialism, because it’s the one system that blocks out their competition.

Sort of a one-dimensional analysis. First of all, the $1b, $5b or even $1t is all printed out of thin air, so it doesn't cost anybody anything. (Other than the price inflation which is spread amongst 300m million citizens rubes.)

Secondly, $1b or even $5b is absolute chump change to get a significant portion of Ukraine into the IMF orbit. And that's because, like all the other peripheral EU satellites, Greece for instance, once it's captured, it can be looted @ leisure.

Never let your eye stray from the main illusion - it's all about extending Fed/EU/IMF control for further processing until the respective regions are a spent husk.

Ukraine could use a fraction of the billion to start fracking its own gas.
