Jeb for prez in 2016? The idea gains steam (Barf Alert)
Orlando Sentinal ^ | Apr 1, 2014 | Scott Maxwell

Posted on 04/02/2014 8:52:40 AM PDT by bkopto

Support for a Bush candidacy is building far beyond Florida.

At a gathering of prominent conservatives in Las Vegas last weekend — where presidential hopefuls kissed the ring of billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson — Bush was among those who puckered up. And the donors liked what they saw.

"GOP elite hoping to lure Jeb Bush," trumpeted the headline at the top of the Washington Post's Sunday-morning paper.

Some see Bush as the party's best hope.

Others see weaknesses ripe for exploitation.

I think both sides are right.

Right now, Florida's 43rd governor towers above most of the other Republicans toying with a presidential run.

Other guys may have their moments in the sun, temporarily firing up the base with a wisecrack, filibuster or fiery talk-show appearance. But their moments are fleeting.

"None of these big donors think Rand Paul is going to win. None think Ted Cruz is going to win," MSNBC's house conservative, Joe Scarborough, told his audience Monday. "None of these big donors think ... any of these people can win. They think Jeb can win the nomination."

I agree with Joe. Of the party's current crop, he is the GOP's best shot — a guy with a track record of doing, rather than simply yapping.

I think some of this is “slow news day” stories, though it’s not a slow news day. Really has me wondering. No way, will JB become the GOP nomination, no way.

I think it is a head fake. He is meant to take the heat while they position a different empty suit to be anointed. Remember the convention rules were changed to give the nomenklatura a lock.

Anything which rhymes with ‘gush’ is a feint. They’ll impose some Fordolomney, Max Headroom type of clone, or may get crazy and add a dash of comino with Rubio. It won’t be conservative and most conservatives will vote, slump shouldered and defeated, for the Trojan horse liberal once again.

Absolute perfection.

The conservative vote will be split among Paul (libertarian conservatives), Cruz (neoconservatives), and Huckabee (social conservatives).

Christie has been eliminated leaving the way free for Bush to waltz in and breeze through the primaries so he can save cash for the run against Hillary.

Our only hope is that Mitt's ego, stubbornness, and lack of self-reflection lead him to enter the race as well to take away some of Bush's vote.

Right now I'm leaning toward voting for someone with executive experience like Perry or Walker or even Kasich.

All governors, even Reagan, have less than stellar conservative credentials because they had to compromise with Democrats in their states to get things done.

Cruz and Paul never have to compromise because they don't have to get anything done. All they have to do is vote the right way. It's especially easy for them being in the minority to play the role of conservative purists.

This country is to big to be run by amateurs and master debaters. We see what is happening with Obama. We don't want a repeat.

Post election analysis revealed that there was less base turn-out for Romney in 2012 than there was for Juan McLame in 2008.
If the GOP doesn't field a candidate I can VOTE FOR with enthusiam in 2016 I may also grow too weary to vote AGAINST the Demmunist party candidate again.
In this ONE matter Jesse Jackass speaks for me:

The last truly conservative candidate for POTUS won two landslide elections, honestly telling the people what he believed.
Sadly, today the lying media remains effective, as dose the lunatic P.C. acadumbia, and we may soon reach a time when the electorate has been too dumbed down to make an informed vote. I pray that day has not dawned yet and a conservative candidate would be elected.

I am sure the Democrats would Love the GOP to pick Jeb Bush—so would the losing RINOs who want a Democratic Victory—anyone with some sense or the right skin tone could beat Jeb Bush. Hillary could, Holder, Michele Obama, So the Media will try to force this down the throats of the American People like they did the Obamacare debaucle. Jeb should bow out—while they paint every Conservative as too extream for Progressive America.

They have a poll posted on the sidebar of this linked article, asking if Jebbie should run in 2016. It needs serious FReeping!!

I can’t post the link to poll as I already voted (NO!) and it won’t let me go back to the original poll/question page :(

Adelson is also pro abortion and pro gay marriage but he was the great hero of FR in 2012. He openly admitted to keeping Gingrich in the race when he had no chance so it would prevent Santorum from winning. (to hand it to Romney)

Let's see - Democrats won't vote for Bush, independents aren't likely to vote for him, and many conservatives are likely to pass. So basically, it'll be a landslide for the Democrat candidate.

The conservative vote will be split among Paul (libertarian conservatives), Cruz (neoconservatives), and Huckabee (social conservatives).,

That's the way I see it too. 2016 will probably be a replay of 2012. Just replace Romney with Jeb, and Obama with Hillary.

The only way out of that would be for the trailing conservatives to drop out early in the primaries, and then throw their support to the leading conservative candidate.

But I don't see that happening. Too many big egos.

Why?

Dubya should never have been President, the game plan drawn up in 1992 was for Jeb to win the Florida governorship in 1994, and serve a full term, before being nominated for the Presidency in 2000. But Dubya won his election in Texas, and had a full term under his belt, while Jeb was only in the second year of his first term, as Jeb had lost to Lawton Chiles in 1994, by a very narrow margin (considering this was Florida, probably an honest count would have tipped the election to Jeb).

Jeb is WAY smarter than Dubya, and a whole lot more serious. Not to say Dubya is not himself quite intelligent, just that Jeb is both quicker and more composed in his thinking.

But the moment has passed. The opportunity that existed in 2000 no longer applies, and the demographics have simply moved on beyond any stepping back in time.

He’s also a strong supporter of Israel but after that we part ways and its unfortunate that the “Israel Lobby” is interlocked with the GOPe types like John McCain who spoke against Putin recently at AIPAC.

Most of the rich people and big money folks are way out in left field.

The top two guys in my town who make political contributions (1 R and 1 D) fully support liberal social agendas including Planned Parenthood, plus consolidated government structures for the county as a means of bailing out the financially failing city government.

Rich guys like Michael Bloomberg pump their millions into tearing down the Second Amendment.

The large businesses-money men want bailouts and debt management from Washington, not a real conservative solution like a balanced budget.
