A mix-up with daylight saving time may have caused a car bomb to blow up in the face of a bumbling bomber in Dublin.
The unidentified bomber was seen fleeing from the wreckage of a ruined Volvo SUV on Sunday evening, while “dripping in blood” after the device that was attached to the vehicle went off early.
Clocks in Ireland were turned ahead on Sunday night.
“It would appear that the bomber got his timings wrong. It could be a case where he didn’t put his watch forward on Sunday [at 1am] and the timer went off too soon,” the Daily Mirror reported.
After the explosion, the man was seen getting into a taxi.
“We are appealing for anyone who might have picked up a person in the New Street and Clanbrassil Street area shortly after 11pm who was quite obviously suffering to come forward,” said Supt. Dave Taylor of Ireland’s Garda press office. “It was a very extensive explosion and it was a very frightening experience for the people on Long Lane,” Taylor said. “It is quite obvious that the car was the object of this attack.”
The owner of the car runs a local business and has no criminal convictions.

wait a minute... you set the clocks AHEAD for daylight savings time, so if he set the bombclock for lets say 6am, then the other clocks forward by an hour, wouldn't that make the bomb go off an hour LATER than he planned??? i could understand if it was fall when you set the clocks BACK an hour, but ahead?
I guess I’ll have to stop saying that DST is useless.
What if it was timed with a cell phone that automatically reset its clock one hour ahead?

A senior source said: “This certainly was a high-grade explosive used in this bomb. “If anyone had been in the car or walking near it at the time then they would have been killed.” The Volvo SUV was completely destroyed in the blast while a house beside the vehicle had its doors and windows blown off.
The army bomb squad was called to the scene by police and the Explosive Ordnance Defence unit was carrying out a post blast analysis yesterday.
The car owner runs a business in the area and has no criminal convictions. He declined to comment when contacted yesterday. Detectives are probing if the attack was perpetrated by an inner city gang.

BTW the Daily Mirror a British newspaper is the only paper with the article not 1 Irish newspaper has the article and if you google it all articles are linked to Daily Mirror.
