Iraq Combat Veteran Kills 3 and Injures 16 (liberals media blames "Bush Wars" on nutcase shooter)

A soldier suffering from emotional problems and dressed in combat fatigues opened fire Wednesday at Fort Hood, killing three people in a flash of violence that brought back memories of the 2009 mass shooting that left 13 dead at the Army base in Texas.

The gunman eventually killed himself, ending the carnage first reported about 4:30 p.m. But at least 16 people were wounded, four critically, in his mad rampage.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, identified the shooter as Ivan Lopez, 34. He served in Iraq for four months in 2011 and had transferred from an unnamed Texas military base to Fort Hood in February for mental health evaluation and treatment, fort commander Lt. Gen. Mark Milley said in a news conference Wednesday night.

Lopez, who was married, was being examined to determine if he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, Milley said.

It was Bush's fault. In the mush brain of all liberals it just had to be the military that turned this nut into a killer. He just had to have mental problems after his 4 months in Iraq in 2011. No if he had any type of mental problem he had those problems before went on active duty. Case closed.

It was really good to see the Commander in Chief (that would be Obama) leave his fund raisers with Democrat fat cats, and fly immediately to Fort Hood to be with the troops. Oh..that didn’t happen? Oh my.

CASE NOT CLOSED.

there are many veterans who suffer from PTSD ..we must get them access to care and get them help.Unfortunately, often it does not come soon enough.

If he was able to kill 3 and injure 14 then obviously and incredibly we still have military personnel walking around unarmed at Fort Hood and of course that will not be addressed. They will remain unarmed and the next guy with mental issues will shoot up the place because he will know nobody can shoot back. I mean think about this: This is ONE guy with a gun going against our MILITARY! Why the F aren’t they ARMED?

A soldier suffering from emotional problems and dressed in combat fatigues

Is this the clothing equivalent of an "assault rifle"? What odd phraseology.

From a blurb.......

“The gunman, who served in Iraq for four months in 2011, had sought help for depression, anxiety and other problems. Before the attack, he had been undergoing an assessment to determine whether he had post-traumatic stress disorder, Milley said.”

Could we have not gotten this guy some help? He MAY have had PTSD?? What is this guy doing on a base, in that sort of environment?

And many veterans who do not suffer from PTSD. My point is the NY Daily News has no idea what caused this character to flip and start shooting people. Maybe his girlfriend left him, or maybe his boyfriend!

Is the “official” word still “Mental Health and PTSD”?

Or have other outlets confirmed he was a converted Mohammadan intent on following up with Nidal Hassan’s unfinished work?

I noticed that Rigamortis Shep Smith kept saying “it’s not terror”....

Why only 4 months? Is that a super short deployment cycle? Or maybe he was sent back early because of some problem?

He could have had mental issues that had nothing to do with the 4 months he spent in Iraq.

According to the news the killer spent 4 months in Iraq in 2011. No time in Afghanistan. He was never wounded. Never in combat apparently. What trauma did he endure to stress about?

Because we can’t be trusted. It is criminal that federal facilities bar people trained in the effective and responsible use of weapons from carrying them on federal property.

I agreee but I wonder what kind of chemical treatment he had received in childhood for that catch all Attention Deficite Syndrome? Placed under stress but off the meds; how many mental switches does that short out?

Learned it from his daddy, no doubt - and never spent a day in uniform. We haven’t had “combat fatigues” since the slant-pocket days in VN.

Frankly, I’d think this pResident’s ROEs, the can’t shoot back policies, are the root of many problems with soldiers there in those places.

No one is mentioning that this was premeditated. It’s not like he just snapped. He went out and bought the gun shortly before the attack. He conscicously smuggled it in to the facility and shot 16 people. That doesn’t sound like an “altercation” incident to me.
