Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee lead the field of potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates, according to a poll released Saturday.

Huckabee and Paul each won support from 13 percent of likely Republican voters when asked whom they would vote for if the 2016 Republican primary were held today. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush was close behind with 11 percent, while New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz each received 9 percent.

Rand Paul tallied 13 percent again when respondents were asked which candidate they thought could defeat Hillary Clinton in the general election, while Huckabee's support slipped to 8 percent. Christie scored 13 percent, Bush got 8 percent, and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio earned 9 percent.

Huckabee and his Common Core love is a non-starter for me.

Huckabee is a nice guy. That said, the last thing we need as president is a “nice guy”.

Based on this pushpoll, looks to me like Newsmax doesn’t like Cruz, and is in favor of amnesty.

Talk about the two extremes: the hero of libertarian wing and the biggest statist in the GOP field.

I don’t believe it…..for one thing, the SANTUCKABEE vote (and lets face it, it’s the same folks) would not break 4-1 in favor of Huck over Santorum…..and second, neither Rand nor Huck is the nominee, period.

yes, the biggest statist in the field…..but the socon drones (NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT to be confused with the thinking socon voter) don’t realize it.

THE issue of our time is the $4 TRILLION FEDERAL GOVERNMENT which threatens to destroy our freedoms and our country. It is head and shoulders above every other issue. Rand doesn't seem to have any problem nuking big government whereas others seem to have their reservations. Rand also has a clear non-popular-culture understanding of the obvious alternative to government, the FREE MARKET ECONOMY. It's not complicated - it's either government tyranny or freedom. Why do so many not get it?

Rand is also reconsidering his weakest issue: defense. Putin's actions may be helping him along those lines. For Rand to viable, he's GOT to get more animated and communicative in his speaking style: Rand, learn to talk to the American People like you're talking to a good friend in your living room.

So far Rand looks like the best of the bunch.

“Based on this pushpoll”

Nonsense. A recent New Hampshire poll is showing Rand Paul far ahead. In Iowa, Huck is ahead and Rand is only a few points behind. Cruz will quit and endorse Rand. Mark my words.

She’s still in the “never say never” mode. Don’t know why she doesn’t show up here unless she is simply considered not to be a candidate (yet, maybe, who knows?). I love her and get why she hesitates, but I get tired of the drama - we need somebody who’s all in without any reservations.

I’d prefer 12 years of Cruz-Palin and then 12 years of Palin- another conservative.

Cruz has experience in D.C. and is a great debater and stallwart conservative. Palin is currently more valuable rallying the conservative troops and would be a fantastic Veep.

After 12 years of Cruz; Cruz for a justice on the USSC.

A poll 2 years out is meaningless. It may as well have Bert, Ernie, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, and Snuffolufogus.
