Du Pont heir convicted of raping daughter spared prison

Though Robert H. Richards IV was convicted of rape, the wealthy heir to the du Pont family fortune was spared prison by a Delaware court in 2009 because he would "not fare well" behind bars, according to court documents CNN obtained Tuesday.

Richards is a great-grandson of the chemical magnate Irenee du Pont.

He received an eight-year prison sentence in 2009 for raping his toddler daughter, but the sentencing order signed by a Delaware judge said "defendant will not fare well" in prison and the eight years were suspended.

First the spoiled brat Ethan Couch gets away with vehicular homicide on the grounds that his "affluenza" meant he wasn't responsible for his actions. Now a perverted heir to a fortune serves no time for raping his own children because "he wouldn't fare well in prison." You would think that's the whole point of prison, it's something of a deterrent because people don't "fare well" there.

I'd love to see whether the judges in both cases have made any large, expensive purchases recently.

As an aside, what's the problem with DuPont heirs? First the lunatic John DuPont murders a wrestler that he was infatuated with, and now we have this guy. I've heard of families regressing, but this is ridiculous.

In some ways, the judge in this case sickens me even more than Richards.

He’s a liberal elite... that kind doesn’t ‘do’ well in prison... Biden’s son is defending the judge who let him off... that bunch stands together against the rest of us...

Because laws that provided such penalties were struck down by the “Supreme” (I always laugh when I type or say that) Court. Not too long ago, 4 - 6 years or so, there were such laws.

Some bad genes in the Johnson’s Wax kids too.

But as far as this guy, awwwww, he wouldn’t fair well in prison. How well do the think the little girl is fairing?
This judge should be impeached.

I have often advocated that child molesters, when released should be placed for a number of years in the neighborhoods where the judges live. I think we’d see much longer sentences then.

Why is this one not dead? Please help this 8 year old receive the justice 2 juries, DNA Proof, confession and ALL APPEALS, RIGHTS GIVEN HIM. All T’s and I’s have been dotted. Please help, please pass on.

Ashley Nichole (Nikki) Read 8 yrs old. Here is something you can do to help this 8 year old. She has waited 24 yrs for JUSTICE to be carried out. JUST IMAGINE IF SHE WERE YOUR DAUGHTER, GRAND DAUGHTER, SISTER, NIECE.

TN Gov email is bill.haslam@tn.gov PHONE calls work best 615-741-2001 TN Gov . Phone calls work the best.

David Keen
http://murderpedia.org/male.K/k/keen-david.htm

This CHILD RAPIST/MURDER HAS RUN OUT OF ALL 20 YRS OF APPEALS, 2 JURIES HANDED DOWN THE DEATH PENALTY, TN GOV Halsam still has NOT SET AN EXECUTION DATE OR SIGNED A DEATH WARRANT, tell him to carry out his Constitutional duty!

This is going on 20 years of appeals. DNA & confession proved he did it.

He raped, strangled to death with her OWN SHOE LACES 8 year old Ashley ‘Nicki’ Read and then threw her body in the river. Even helped hunt for what was thought to be a missing child. Justice has been denied, her mom Debbie still grieves as there is no closure allowed by the Injustice system.

A ruling like that ought to be grounds for impeachment of the judge. A violation of the obligation to do equal justice to rich and poor.

I think there is something hidden about this story. It involves Beau Biden who was the DA at the time. Both the judge and Biden being democ-rats, was this scum a democ-rat too or did his rich family contribute money ?

It's nice to have money. Gets you out of a lot of jams. Just look at Ted Kennedy! Drowns a woman in a pond and gets to be senator for another 40 years.

There's a reason the game Monopoly has a "Get out of jail" card.

Have you ever noticed how Occupy Wall Street types rant and rave about the "1%" because they think that businesses aren't taxed enough, but they never seem to complain much about real abuses of power by the wealthy and well-connected such as this one. Must be because these guys hedge their bets by giving money to the "right" candidates and party.

I wonder how much DuPont money went into Joe Biden's slush funds over the years.

These things tend to happen when the judge looks across the bench and sees someone very much like himself or his loved ones. People that don’t look like him? Not so much.

“You get the justice you can afford”

And the juries you deserve.

How many people brag about getting out of jury duty and then moan about how silly juries are in letting the guilty go free or assess no real punishment.

Conservative should be eager to serve on a jury. . .they would be fair, honest and assess based on fact, not emotion when considering guilt or innocence.

Conservative would not be ‘bought’ by a fancy lawyer’s arguments. Conservatives THINK, not feel when evaluating evidence and facts.

This wasn’t a jury problem. He WAS convicted. The judge decided the sentence.

Yes, I do notice that. I also notice how liberal icons like Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and Nancy Pelosi have personal wealth measured in the tens or hundreds of millions but the liberals love to go on and on about the wealth of say Mitt Romney.

Even more infuriating is that Mitt Romney made his millions while Kennedy, Pelosi and Kerry, et al, either inherited their fortunes - or married into them.

First question is why would he only get a sentence of 8 yrs. to start with? Second thing is this: how many WOULD “fare well” in prison? This smells bad.
