The leader of the U.S. Senate repeatedly has attacked two private U.S. citizens for using their money to advance the conservative causes in which they believe.
Reid's latest attack on "shadow billionaires" David and Charles Koch came Thursday, at a news conference to push legislation raising the minimum wage.

Mr. XXX XXX
Dear Mr. X:
Thank you for contacting me to share your views. I appreciate hearing from you.
I believe in an America where everyone has a voice and an ability to participate in the political process. But we can all agree that our democracy is not for sale to the richest one percent. In 2010, in a 5-4 ruling in Citizens United v Federal Elections Commission, the Supreme Court struck down decades of precedent that prevented corporations and unions from funding political advertisements. Since the Citizens United decision, the floodgates have opened for unaccountable and anonymous spending from shadowy special interests that want to influence our elections.
In my view, our democracy suffers when the voices of middle class Americans are drowned out by a few wealthy individuals who can afford to put millions into campaign advertisements. In one attempt to buy the upcoming election, two billionaire oil baron brothers, Charles and David Koch, have publicly stated their intent to spend countless sums to further their radical agenda. The Koch brothers oppose commonsense environmental regulations that allow us to breathe clean air and drink pure water. They want to dismantle collective bargaining rights for workers and reduce their voice in the workplace. They want to repeal health reform that helps people afford lifesaving treatments. Simply put, the Kochs are attempting to rig the system to benefit themselves and the wealthiest one percent at the expense of working families throughout Nevada and our nation.
As long as the Koch brothers continue to spend hundreds of millions of dollars buying elections, I will continue to do all I can to expose their intentions. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
My best wishes to you.
Sincerely, HARRY REID United States Senator
Hmmm. No mention of union money or hollyweird money or radical left wing extremist socialist groups.
The man is overtly trying desperately to start a class war. I’m embarassed for the man.
As I said before, The Koch Brothers, despite being billionaires, live in Harry Reid’s head RENT FREE ( with lots of space to boot ).
“And it’s the Strawberries too!!!”
Like George Soros?
Stinky Dingy Harry has completely lost it. The staffers who write all of the rants for him to regurgitate on the Senate floor really need to tell the boy to lighten up.
“Im embarassed for the man.”
IMO, it is not possible that enough bad things could happen to him in this life.
We just paid for an all-nighter in the Senate just to please one single Billionaire who says he will pump $100,000,000 into Democrat campaigns.
Thank God for David and Charles Koch...
It’s looking like Harry Reid can’t live without the Koch Brothers.
Just look at the news just from the past week alone...
Harry Reid Attacks Koch Brothers for Offenses Committed by Reid Donors
Democrats bash SCOTUS ruling on campaign contributions (Harry Reid bashes Koch Brothers again)
Harry Reid Now Spreading Baseless Claim that Koch Brothers Don’t Pay Corporate Taxes

The man is ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED with these brothers.
Tom Steyer planning $100 million campaign push
“Liberal billionaire Tom Steyer is laying plans to go big in the 2014 election.
The former hedge fund manager is hoping to spend $100 million $50 million from his personal fortune and $50 million from other donors to make climate change a top-tier issue in the election,
Here's the thing, D. Harry...No amount of money spent on false and misleading propaganda can have ANY effect on elections, unless the target audience is ignorant, detached from reality and clueless about bad laws and consequences.
No group spends more than the Dimocrats, their supporters, thug unions and the Obamapress.
The biggest spenders during elections are the agents of fraudulent vote, phantom voters, repeat voters, and dead voters, made real by the Soros machine recruitment of the least productive, most ignorant and criminally inclined welfare subculture.
LET'S TRY VOTER ID AND SEE HOW THAT WORKS OUT!
I hate unsupported accusations from all sides!
How about some supporting data and details?
Criminal politicians (and their supporters) have been known to make stuff up.
It always amazes me when old Harry Greed blasts the “rich”. What Bxxxx he has!
Obviously the Koch brothers are successful in uncovering the Democrat lies, corruption, shadyness, etc. and it’s bugging the heck of the aged and disgusting Harry Reid. I’m waiting for Harry’s email about how George Soros and the unions are corrupting the system with their money. After all, both of those contribute far more to the Democrat cause than the Kochs donate to the Republican cause,
Spreading the wealth is a good thing, always.
However, might as well make it somewhat useful and entertaining.
Why not start an intense campaign claiming that the hollow earth causes global warming?
I guess all those billionaires that own Las Vegas casinos contributing to Harry’s political war chest, they don’t count?
Obviously Dirty Harry Reid prefers the volunteer approach to cheating the votes, as democrips always do, including the lying filth Reid.
Shadow Billionaires like George Soros? Oh wait...
Hey senile, corrupt, despicable Whore House Harry:
Just exactly where did your millions come from - given that you have an IQ even lower than the Obamadork and the Pelosi-wench (if that’s even possible), you have no discernible ability of any kind, you are ugly and have no personality. Boy, did you belong in the senate where you blended right in.
Could it be that some “shadow” billionaire made you his b*tch years ago.
Heh, perhaps you’re looking forward to that gay marriage, dork.
Yeah, that Tom Steyer and that Soros guy are corrupting the political process with all their filthy lucre....
Can a Senator be sued for slander? or is it libel?
not sure of the difference...
I just looked up “can a Senator be sued for slander”? and apparently they are immune for anything said on the Senate floor.
However, this is a letter. Hmmmm.
Do you mean non-citizen George Soros?! Is that who you refer to DingyHarry?
Yeah — George Soros, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and Mike Bloomberg. Is Jeff Bezos a billionaire? And why the milllionaires? Why not name the mob trash that sponsors you, Harry? And the limolib refuse from Hollywood. Thanks rktman.
She never misses an opportunity to dig at Republicans. Never.
Right or wrong, Pelosi and Reid are out there fighting the fight, making outrageous statements regardless of the truth.
Where are our guys?
Why aren't we right behind them attacking back? Forget about defending Bush against Pelosi's claim - that's just fighting on their terrain. We should be directly attacking Pelosi as having no ideas, as stuck on Bush, as being responsible for the today's problems because of Obamacare, TARP, whatever. Make it up if they have to.
The House has passed dozens of bills that would help fuel economic growth by expanding all types of energy production, protecting families and small business from ObamaCare, improving education and job training, and more," Boehner said in a statement. "Senate Democrats have no excuse for standing in the way of these common-sense jobs measures, many of which passed with bipartisan support, and I urge them to act immediately.
That's what our guys do.
Of course except those billionaires that back Reid.
Rigging elections is strictly the purview of government agencies !
Not immune from someone sticking their foot up his ass.
“In the off-year campaigns of 2013, liberal and Democratic interests have enjoyed a decisive advantage in the billionaire spending bracket. Indeed, groups tied to just three billionaires New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, California investor Tom Steyer and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg have spent well more than $25 million this year pushing progressive candidates and causes.”
The Koch Brothers have America’s freedom and best interests at heart. More than we can say for your pal Soros.
“Whore House Harry”
Please, that’s an insult to whore houses! Indeed, Dingy Harry decided last year that Nevada’s reputation is sullied by legal brothels, and he want’s them banned. Now I suspect it may have more to do with Bunny Ranch owner Dennis Hoff’s contributions to Republican candidates than any sudden moral awakening on Reid’s part, but hey I’m just an old cynic.
I would say it is safe to assume there is not one single minimu wage job at any of the Koch businesses. I also assume that all employees receive generous health insurance and retirement packages.
Dingy Harry is getting anti-Semitic in his old age.
When I hear that George Soros has complied with your demand to keep his DIRTY MONEY OUT of American Politics, THEN I’ll think about your “demands” possibly being serious.
Unions, Rat RICO, and crony capitalists don’t try and rig elections? Send the old mule to the glue factory.
Why is Crazy Uncle Harry attacking George Soros like this?
Where ARE our guys?
Raising money using Snail-Mail fake “SURVEYS”?
I think every GOP “consultant” who worked on the Romney and McCain campaigns should work FOR FREE in this campaign! Or quit!
THEY owe US!
I'm sickened by all the dim senators that think letting dingy remain in the Senate is good for Congress, and the country.
Harry blasted Soros? /s
Liberals Have Accounted for 70% of Dark Money Spent in Politics in 2013
Real Party of the Rich Guys: Top Dem donors have outspent top GOP donors by $486 mill in last 25 yrs
Koch Bros come in 59th.
14 of the top 16 are demonrats.
I still have Al Franken telling me we need to get money out of politics.
They don’t do this for no reason, they have some kind of focus group data or polling that tells them this strategy will pay off.
Instead of saying they’re all nuts, we should be countering the attacks, especially on the Senate floor.
Yep, the Senate Floor is a BUNKER.
