Every Asian attempt to conquer Japan has failed miserably, yet Japan has enslaved all of Asia three or four times already with little more than steely determination and sharp knives.

Something additional to note here. Japan would have owned all of Asia, except for the intervention of Western powers in the 1890s and again in WWII. The Western powers interceded and stopped Japan from taking China and so Japan had to stop after Korea in the 1890s. And the U.S.A. dropped the atomic bomb on Japan one day short of the Russians launching an invasion of the Japanese homeland, holding the Russians at the 38th parallel in Korea (thereby creating the division of North Korea and South Korea). If not for the U.S.A., Japan would have owned China, and could conceivably have blunted much of Russia's abilities to expand.

This thing between Russia and Japan ain't over, the Russian's remember getting whipped by the Japanese in 1904/1905. The North Koreans, as a former vassal state of the Russians, want to antagonize the Japanese. There's no logic to it from a western point of view, but the North Koreans don't care.

Japan has had enough of the Fat Boy's antics.

And they didn't care much for Fat Man and Little Boy either.

Not for nothing, If your coastal radars detected incoming, do you know how far they’ll be in flight? They might drop into the sea or maybe onto your cities. JMHO

Young dung over there better take it seriously, the Japs rarely say anything they don't mean.

I work for a Japanese company so I have to work with these guys all the time. One thing I could tell you is that if they say it, you can usually bank on it. Most of them would rather die than look like a putz by going back on their word. They are real stringent like that. I know there is a culture split over there, but these are the old guys talking here. They don't have much of a sense of humor

International law is a little murky in this area. Normally nations announce launches well in advance and take confidence building steps so that no one mistakes a missile test for an attack. The French launch ICBM from the Bay of Biscay into French territorial waters towards the French territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon south of New Foundland, for instance, probably the closest routine ICBM impacts to the United States.

No one thinks the French are trying to intimidate the U.S. and no one doubts the Norks are trying to intimidate the Japanese.
