Mozilla's Gay-Marriage Litmus Test Violates Liberal Values
The Atlantic ^ | APR 4 2014 | CONOR FRIEDERSDORF

A half-dozen years ago, Brendan Eich donated $1,000 to the campaign for Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that set out to ban same-sex marriage. It passed with 52 percent of the vote, but was later overturned by the courts.

I hated and opposed that ballot initiative. That same year, in fact, I spent more time arguing in favor of gay marriage than any other issue. In private, I tried to persuade various family members and acquaintances that they ought to cast ballots against Proposition 8. At Culture11, a now-defunct web magazine where I worked, my boss Joe Carter and I went countless rounds during spirited intra-office debates about whether there was, in fact, a strong conservative case for gay marriage, a position that I maintained and that he rejected. And I published a lot of pro-gay marriage commentary for public consumption.

Truthfully, never. The rebels of the 60s were always totalitarians, but now they have complete power in California, DC, and everyplace else that (at least for them) really counts--and they are going to stick it to everybody else.

No, It does not violate modern liberal values. It violates their stated values and it DOES violate classical liberal values. However that was waaaay in the past and is only now used as a cover when and if it is needed.

Liberals are fascists at heart. Inside every liberal, is a fascist waiting to get out.

Brendan Eich was shoved out the door at Mozilla not because he made a “wrong” political donation but because he held a view of which the Lavender Mafia disapproved.

No one at Mozilla can ever hold traditional views - and if they dare to voice them - they can expect the liberal lynch mob to come for them baying for their blood.

This is the new American tolerance in our corporate culture and body politic. Its fascism and proud of it.

Notice how first off, the liberal writer feels he has to innoculate himself from the idea of being opposed gay marriage before he can go on to make his point. Even he knows the fascists would dismiss him outright if he didn’t.

Now that gays have goose-stepped out of the closet, Christians will be forced to go into the closet.

What they should have done was fired the Moz employees who took to social media to harass Eich. But no, they're still employed.

I have NOT gotten rid of Firefox, nor will I. My reasons are simple:

- While I find what Mozilla did gutless and despicable, there is not ONE (1) browser alternative that isn't run by a company just as bad - and in some instances worse.

- Microsoft has had ‘domestic partner’ benefits programs in place for over a decade.

- Besides being gay friendly, Google is clearly anti-Christian and downright anti-American. And engaged in more spying than the NSA.

- If you will add ‘Ghostery’ and ‘No Script’ to Firefox, set them both on ‘kill everything’ you will come as close as possible to being able to surf anonymously. Yes, because of these blocking actions some web sites won't work properly, but screw them.

(And for the record, at this moment while I am on Free Republic, Google Analytics, tidynetwork, and vlamac are all being blocked.)

If you really want to support only those companies that support man and woman marriage, you may as well just shut the computer off and walk away. If you aren't ready to give up on the Internet, then from the bad choices available you might as well choose the one that gives you the most protection.

I get that, but not sure that there’s not ONE browser alternative.

What is your issue with Opera? I switched to that and find it way faster than Firefox was and it supports extensions, including Ghostery (which I have used for quite some time now).

One of the comments on the Mozilla site said almost exactly the same thing... surprisingly, he admitted that he was a queer and didn’t agree with things coming out this way (and also gave the ‘unhappy’ face).
